Maaaan this was so great to watch. Your Hornstrandir video drove me to take one last adventure abroad before my son arrived. My wife was 5 months pregnant when I went to Iceland. I carried his spirit with me and spent most of the trip thinking about how I'd come back with him someday. It really mentally prepared me for the next chapter as a dad. He's almost 2 now and the absolute light of my life. Your video shows just how difficult the infant stage is but also how much of a complete life changer it is too. It gets better! You're getting to know your little son one tough day at a time. Thanks for finding the time to make this for us. I got a lot out of it and can't wait to hug my little son when he wakes up from his nap. I absolutely cannot wait to watch your adventures together as he grows up.

Expanding on this. Took my 2 (almost 3) year old on a 3 day portage for her first time few days ago. Covered in dirt by the end of every day but we play make believe camping now regularly, it's wonderous what the outdoors does for development. Used a good amount of gear you have recommended. Congratulations man! Been following you since I first discovered your solo hiking videos back during COVID. I have often used them over the years to help calm myself when battling anxiety or depression. But I myself welcomed a son into this world 21 months ago today. When he was an infant and was fussy, I would put him in his swing and play your videos and he would calm down as he glared up at the TV in awe until he fell asleep. Now, as a *wild* toddler (prepare yourself lol), I will put one of them on while he eats and it's fun to watch his reactions to certain parts. Lots of "wowwwws" and "pup!!" when he sees a dog. Enjoy the ride, your family is beautiful.

My life is eerily similar to yours right now 😅 we just had our first born son, 14 weeks ago, we have Australian Shepherd, and just got back from a work trip to Brasil (sadly no hiking). The scene of you and your wife laying in bed watching your son is something we still do. It's amazing how you can just spend hours staring at them. Congratulations to you and your beautiful family.

In the end, that means, the baby will be seen as a positive. Dogs have feelings and jealousies just like people. Clearly, you understand that. Your life is now forever changed. No doubt you have heard that many time now. All for the better. As they say, Circle of life. Challenges along the way, but absolutely, for the better. My kids are long time adults now, but we have a wonderful relationship and it's a lot of it is due to all the time and effort my wife and I spent in their infant and younger days. Congratulations! I firmly believe you can continue enjoying the hobbies you love with kids-they just tend to be a little modified. I just got back from backpacking with my young toddler. I figured, if everything is more challenging with young kids (especially putting them in a carseat), you might as well go big and take them outdoors for a few days, right? During the early days, congratulate yourself every time you get out of the house, it's a huge accomplishment of its own! Also, those baby carriers are freaking life saver!
