I'm a fan too! I still have a lot of studying to do, but it's a really fun and powerful weapon.

I love the Catalan as well. I am still trying to understand plans in more depth after starting it during the pandemic. I usually end up with nice to great positions!

Thanks for the lesson. Think I'll have to pick up the Catalan again.

Is there an old chess book you would recommend that dives into these opening along with notation for games played by the masters and the theory?

I think he collected these from book 1.d4 (2nd phase - Bogoindian , Nimzoindian, Catalan, special sidelines) by Slobodan Mirkovic, all of these games can be found there. Fabolous master game examples, with lots of comments. Not that much theory. For theory Bologan: The Powerful Catalan book is really good in my opinion, or Nigel Davies: Play the Catalan. Both very accurate well analyzed theoretical books.

at 12:48 after b captures c4, why can't black just take back on c4 with b?

Well done. One thing... "Honestly" "I am not going to lie to you" these phrases imply truth is your anomaly.

he is probably reading the comments.... as it is an online lecture, due to covid i guess (see the date of streaming)

Lmao why are you so dense? He literally asks questions about what moves are coming next, looks down obviously reading some type of interactive chat with people watching online, and talks about their suggestions. Idk how you could possibly conclude that he is ignoring the lecture to get on his phone

It’s a live stream dork. He’s reading the chat as you would know if you watched the video he read several comments out loud
