Ja, das war echt super. Vor allem die Frau, die als Krampus verkleidet war, hat das möglich gemacht. Sie hat das mit so viel Einfühlvermögen und Liebe gemacht, das ganz viele Kinder ihre Scheu abgelegt haben. Echt toll!

No animals. Krampus is a mythical creature, who accompanies St. Nikolaus and taked away kids who werent good during the year. St. Nick brings the presents for the good kids and Krampus takes the bad kids with him. 😂🤣 Its a very old tradition here in Austria and people love to dress up as Krampus at and around Dec 5th every year.

Ja, ich glaub, durch die Maske hat er es einfach nicht gesehen. Da ist das Sichtfeld sicher eingeschränkt. Aber dafür konnten dann beide dem anderen Krampus, oben im Hof vom Schloß, die Hand geben und mit ihr ein Foto machen. ❤ Ist so eine Minute danach im Video ca. zu sehen. ❤

American here. Do you think the Krampus tradition makes Austrian kids less innocent than American kids, or do most of them know the monster isn't real?

Hello Ethan, I don’t think that the Krampus takes the innocence of Austrian kids. In order for them to not be scared of the Krampus they do know of course that Krampus is just a man or a woman in a mask and a costume. The costume and the posture of the Krampus makes the kids still scared of course. Also Krampus is the companion of St. Nikolaus, so kids are being taught very visually the difference between good and bad. And as you can see in the video, the people in the mask, who try to keep the tradition alive are very friendly and eager to show the new generation that this is something not to be scared of, but participate in and enjoy and enhance. No. None of the kids think today that they get hurt from the Krampus. I mean, I heard it in my childhood. But that was the 80's and parenting was different. :) Krampusruns and Perchtenruns were way different back in the days.
