I feel like the thing that probably pushed Kratos over the edge here and brought back his old rage must have been the moment Heimdall threatened Atreus, because looking back the rage that drove him to slay all of Olympus came from his anger over what the gods tricked him into doing to his first wife and child, and from what they did to his mother and brother.

I don't think the redone music editing works, to be honest. Constantly getting the wrong tone from the music to what's happening onscreen, and it doesn't even work ironically. You have funeral music during a battle hype-up, "Deliverance" during the battle's cool-down, and Baldur's iconic death music just undercutting Kratos's anguish at returning to his former self. Leaves me at a loss for how to feel about the scene onscreen

I feel like a big difference between how heimdall would’ve been handled in old god of war compared to new god of war is that Kratos would’ve been given some way to launch an attack that heimdall had no way of avoiding, and then he would’ve been weakened and been able to get killed. I think he would’ve had to be a very prominent figure throughout the game before you had the opportunity to kill him though.
