Ive been intimidated by the kreg displays for years. Im an amateur wood worker that knows the luxury of what this tool can do but never knew which jig to buy. Thanks to this intuitive video it just took all my worries away. Ill definitely be buying a pro model in the near future.

I have been fascinated by Kreg pocket hole makers for years. I bought asignlr hole jig years ago from a late-night TV commercial and an R3 a few years ago. I recently bought a Kreg 720 pro. I watched several videos including Kreg videos and had a few questions that remained unanswered. Everyone seemed to use the same size and type of wood for making connections. No one stressed the wood you are going into is the key to screw type, depth and length. YOU answer every single question. I have been dying to try these things for years. Thank you.

As a relative newcomer to the pocket hole world, and watching a few other videos on pocket hole joinery, I have found this to be the best one yet. I own a K5, which was all that I could afford at the time and it has served me very well. Since I have access to several drills, I have decided that I am going to purchase a couple more drill bits and collars and have them set at the various depths and never change them, that way I can't make a mistake and forget to set the collar properly. I thoroughly enjoy your method of getting the point across. Straight to the point with no frills. I've been binge watching your videos from the beginning and I'm learning quite a lot. I can make projects and set them up on my front lawn, as I live on the main access street into my small town in Alberta. Keep up the great work.

Love my Kreg tools got my Kreg pocket hole jig long ago. Looks like I may need to update to a newer version. I personally believe Kreg choose the prefect person to make this video. I follow Matthew on KZbin and enjoy all his builds. My project shop was destroyed by 2 different hurricanes, so I been storing all my tools in back of my 2A shop until recently. I just built a temporary workshop because my 12 yr old daughter has recently asked to learn how to word work. Her and my 14 yr old nephew help me put this shop together in 2 days and moved my tools in. So Matthew is fixing to make a few coins off my with his etsy shop. Thanks for making this video.

I have the older model and it has a small problem and I'll bet the new design has the same. The drill tip does not protrude the piece. Now matter how well I clamp the pieces the screw causes the piece to mis-align. Of course if the drill bit did protrude it would drill into the jig. I suggest Kreg make a drill a little longer and make a slot to accommodate the longer drill tip. My work around is to take a 3" 8d finish nail and push it in so that it protrudes the piece. I then remove the waste I pushed out with the nail. I get a perfectly aligned joint every time.
@KregToolCompany
@KregToolCompany Жыл бұрын
Your joint can shift slightly out of place during assembly as your screw enters the mating piece and we suggest clamping the joint as you drive in the screw to prevent this. If your hole isn't fully drilled, you may also need to slightly adjust the stop collar on your drill bit. Here are links to some tips that might help you: learn.kregtool.com/learn/answers-to-pocket-hole-questions/#q5 learn.kregtool.com/learn/answers-to-pocket-hole-questions/#q6 learn.kregtool.com/learn/create-tight-pocket-hole-joints/

When using two different thicknesses of wood you said to use the screw for the thickest but do you set your jig to drill for the thickest piece of wood?
@KregToolCompany
@KregToolCompany Жыл бұрын
We recommend that you attach the thinner piece to the thicker one whenever possible. That means you’ll drill the pocket hole in the thinner piece. So, use that thickness to set your pocket-hole jig and drill bit. Learn more about this here: learn.kregtool.com/learn/why-material-thickness-matters/

“T” joint and different sizes of wood - if the screw is determined by the thickness of what it’s being attached to, what is the setting on the hole-jig set too? The thickness of the receiving piece or the piece being drilled through? 🇨🇦

@KregToolCompany Жыл бұрын
We recommend that you attach the thinner piece to the thicker one whenever possible. That means you’ll drill the pocket hole in the thinner piece. So, use that board's thickness to set your pocket-hole jig and drill bit. You can learn more about joining different thicknesses at the bottom of this article: learn.kregtool.com/learn/why-material-thickness-matters/ And if you're ever unsure, our online Screw Selector will recommend the best screw and settings for your project: kregtool.com/screw-selector
