Russia is desperately trying to create discontent among the countries helping Ukraine. Poland knows quite well about how treacherous Russia is from being invaded by them in 1939 and the Katyn massacre of Polish officers. What is important for those who think Russia stops in Ukraine is that hardliners believe that Russia should reoccupy Poland and the Baltic states.

If the world had a memory they would know this has been Putlers goal since becoming leader. He publicly stated his goal was to regain all the territory lost during the Soviet Unions collapse. It is the main reason so many ex-Soviet states joined NATO as they were aware they were in line to be invaded once again by Russia if they remained alone. This allows Putin to use the lie that NATO is preparing to invade Russia as more and more nations join NATO. Ask Sweden/Norway and Ukraine why they all intend to join NATO either soon(Norway/Sweden) or when this war is over(Ukraine).

The problem with ' historically our territories' is that it only works if you define an exact moment in time to lay claim to those territories. There was an historic moment in time where England controlled the eastern USA, France controlled the central USA and Spain/Mexico controlled the western USA. There is a historic time when Germany controlled France. There was an historic time when the Mongols, Japan, Germany and Finland controlled parts of Russia. The arguments Putin is making about Ukraine can be made against Russia if you consider any other moment in time.

In the beginning of the invasion there was a guest on a Russian talk show that said this invasion is not going to end well for Russia. He explained that due to close Soviet ties, the Ukraines served in the Armed Forces and basicly know how Russia operates. Apparently most of the tech for the forces were located in Ukraine and many soldiers that fought in WW2 was from Ukraine. Even though The federation use this war for their narrative. Basicly he was not surprised that Ukraine resisted and did well in those first days, he expected nothing less. What is less is that he definitely has never again appeared on a show.
