Kriega US-40 on Honda CB500x

Here is a review of why I chose the Kriega US-40 for my CB500x. It was time to slim the CB500x back down and keep the camping gear to the necessities.

I have been riding extended trips around Australia and using Kriega bags. Very good quality. But would never load my bike like this. 26lt pannier bags with the heavier gear in them and the only gear on the seat area is a Kriega 30lt with clothes, toiletries etc. You need to keep your centre of gravity as low as possible when travelling our deserts with sand and corrugated dirt roads. I have just sold my fourth BMW GS and have a CB500X on order. Age is catching up with me and it was time to downsize.

Thanks John…but that’s still 82L of space…this is only 50L total…also my gear is not more than 20kg for a few days camping…doing deserts…well I think I would be on a different bike!

Same thoughts mate. Another option would be 30l plus 2 20 litres or just 2 20s on the side. 10 on top. They have such a small footprint hanging off the sides. I live in Indonesia and getting through tight spots is an art form here. I ride an Xmax 250 now and looking at the cb500 x 2017 as a second bike.. I am starting to ride my age.

Nice. It hadn't occurred to me to strap under the seat. I'm going to try that with my mosko 40l duffle. I've been looking for a way to get it on the pillion seat of my 500x rather than way back there on the rack behind the rear wheel.
