Before using your Viltrox 28mm f/4.5 FE, please remember to press the quickly button to open the lens cap. Be sure to slide the button completely to confirm the lens cap is fully open！ Since Sony cameras automatically adjust the lens during startup, failing to open the lens cap can prevent the autofocus function from activating. Prolonged use without fully opening the lens cap can also damage the lens motor, may cause auto focus function problems Additionally, once you’ve opened the lens cap and started the camera, please avoid interfering with the lens calibration and autofocus process (you may notice slight back-and-forth movement). Interrupting this can also risk damaging the lens. Thank you for your attention to these details and for helping ensure the longevity and performance of your lens!

It is normal for a lens that costs $99 and the second thing they had to make the motor small, I don't think they could've made it more silent.

Indiegogo didn't say the lens is not compatible with Sony NEX cameras. So, buyers beware. Another surprise is that the lens appeared at my door today without a prior warning. So sure, my NEX-6 doesn't even power up with the lens attached. It's working fine on a 6700 but it makes little sense on a larger body in my opinion. Certainly even less sense on a full frame body.

@@ddzang Nonsense mate. You're confusing NEX and alpha camera model lines with the e-mount type flange that they both share. The NEX is an e-mount body and the lens is e-mount too. They just don't work together electronically. My case is an early adopter's curse. Indiegogo did not provide a camera compatibility list for the lens at the time when I was placing the order.

@@tadc nex is too old. Give it up mate or go get a current e-mount camera. You are asking too much of a $99 lens. Why don’t you go start a company yourself and make lenses forever compatible. It’s not that easy!

@@ddzang I do own one of the latest Sony cameras. I have also my reasons for keeping the NEX. Indiegogo did not disclose compatibility limitations, which is not completely right no matter how inexpensive the lens is. In the absence of relevant information one would reasonably expect that an e-mount lens would work on an e-mount camera, don't you think? Treat this question as rethorical.

This lens has a serious factory problem, with the lid closed when you turn on the camera, the focus makes a movement that continually collides with the lid, if you don't realize it quickly you can easily burn out the motor, they should give the design a second look, they are aware of the problem but they are going to sell it like this... I canceled my purchase.

Got the lens yesterday, and it’s true that you’ll need to remember to open the cap every time you turn on the camera but let’s not forget how cheap this is. And it seems like it’s a software fixable issue while people are a bit over dramatic with this flaw.

I just leave the lid open. It‘s not the best solution but okay. I always wear my camera in nearly dust free bags and clean it regularly.
