In a narrow bylane of Seshadripuram sits Babu and Latha’s home from where they tend to a 20-year-old tradition of making and serving a naati style chicken biryani. There is no signboard on the premises, but the aroma that wafts out onto the street from their kitchen at noon each day is enough to signal its presence to passers by. A home business that began 20 years ago with the recipe from Babu’s mother is now carried forward by his wife, they sell a wholesome biryani for Rs. 100, which with three or four pieces of chicken and an egg, is sumptuous enough to feed two. This tiny eatery also dishes out a simple anna-sambar-rasam-vade meal for the vegetarians. I tag along with restaurateur, Prathiksha Nayak, who introduces me to this delicious memory from her college years in the area.

Note: They make a limited portion, get here early before it gets busy and they run out. You can also order a half biryani. It’s a rather rudimentary eatery with minimal seating on benches. Most stand and eat, best to takeaway.
