Kripp, can you please tell how do you have 600 STR in the video? In my build I have +50 str belt, +23% increase STR body armor and I got the passives increasing STR by 5% and attributes by 10%. I ended with 400 STR... No idea what you did to get more

@@panvxv5223 get strength on nearly every piece of gear. and nearly every passive which has strength on it (there are lots of 10 str, 15 str, etc) with the 10% attribute passive, str 5% anoint, and 20% from body armour i have 722 str. i could even still get strength on my helmet (using unique) and boots kripp has 620 str in the video and doesn't have a weapon, rings or a belt.

What if it's a flat 15%? Also maybe armour reduces damage by the BASE physical amount they do before modifiers? HAve you actually ever tested it, hit by hit? WIth no armour, and a lot of armour? Not just read the formulas?

TLDR: Armor got buffed, so mobs armor got buffed. Which means physical damage got nerfed. Which means majority of physical damage builds (which is mostly maces) got nerfed.

@@krykry606you do not die to phys damage. Armour is mitigating phys damage just fine but the issue is stuff like spells and elemental damage in general. Evasion mitigates almost everything. You are building into a defensive layer that you are already mitigating.

@egdm1235 That's not the point...block is a left side mechanic that allows you to deal with big hits. Armour shouldn't mitigate big hits since you have block available. Block mitigates small hits too but you can't rely solely on it.

thats your problem 5.5k health, you can achieve like 9K, and if you run veil + blackbraid you can ignore res go up to 13-14k hp and focus on str and maximum life, just make sure you have a fat shield with nodes %defense upgrade, you can reach 20K armor easily and even 60K plus when getting crit/projectiles, so yeah your problem is low hp pool with armor not armor it self. you need jewel % hp per grand.

I have warbringer with around 90% block with turtle charm, 3k life and around 10k armour, 80% fire res and rest 78%. It's pretty unkilable. But then I have spark with 5k mana + MOM and 5k es grim feast so 10k es. Gotta say spark deletes everything fast so it feels tanky af. But if i had to leave char afk in mobs then warbirnger would survive way longer. But against oneshots es + mom is superior

In the livestream DM was teaching the game director how passive tree for warrior is bad, it took a moment for the GAME DIRECTOR to see it's bad, what do you expect as a result? In that moment I understood they don't fully understand their game. Another moment was, the bleeding "should" bypass shields. Anything related to warrior is fucked, and we will get a lot more melee classes, guess how they will behave?

@@andreiga76 He mentioned the reduced attack speed from the warrior tree, and those nodes are NOT bad. People just don't understand how warrior scales and thinks he plays like other classes. The reduced attack speed nodes gives a lot more increased damage, and warriors only need to juggle attack speed until a certain amount, the increases of attack speed can easily be converted to even more damage with those nodes. Warriors have a lot of fixed skill times, and attack speed increases don't do much, but some other builds can be benefit from attack speed like fissure builds. Warriors also have totems and bleed as builds, also, not attack speed reliant. People who quit warrior are either bad players or just too ignorant on how the character function, warrior won't be buffed because GGG knows the power of the class, the problem stems from other unrelated things, and most "warrior" problems are due to the fact that monsters have an insane amount of damage, like elemental spells. Warrior as class is really good and actually incredibly well designed with the amount of combos it has, but people assume they know everything without investing a lot of time to practice with the class.

The fact that cloak of flames corrupted can go up to 48% conversion and with 75-90% fire resist that's 36-44% physical damage reduced all the time makes armor completely unusable. can't even imagine how much armor you need to even come close.

Armor buffed. Still gets you killed. I understand why the values are shared by the player and the mobs. It makes sense. However, mobs arent built using the restrictions of the skill tree. That is why it would make more sense for the skill tree to provide more of the changes to balance.

no it doesn't make sense. If they want to buff survivability of armor users but not the one of mobs they should change the formular AND reduce all monster armor values by 15% in the same patch. However all reports where about "armor to weak" and not "phys damage too strong". quite contraty. phys damage is at an disadvantage vs ele damage. phys damage has to overcome armor so you have to somehoe incorporate armor break into your combo meaning you need to first hit the enemy with one skill to break armor and then with another to damage/kill them. meanwhile elemental damage has access to elemental resistance penetration which applies from the first hit, no need to set up. And if the ele player wants to "set up" (for example for bosses) he can reduce the ele resistance even below 0 for extra damage. To get the same effect for phys you have to use a very specific ascandancy AND spent precious ascandancy points to get the effect. And no "phys can stun better" is no good excuse. Cold can freeze AND chill, and cold also builds up stun meter (just not as fast as phys) and freeze is superior as it is better telegraphed than stun AND does not send half the enemies flying away (which means that the phys melee player has to spend half the stun duration to run back to the enemy and probably st up new totems etc. while the cold player can just keep up dps)

people need to stop talking about ES like its some broken shit because its not. pob for poe2 is up. you can go test stuff out. without grim harvest with not so insane investment u get around 9k es which is 9k max phys hit with 0 mitigation(I have around 25k on infernalist and let me tell you its mostly not from the es but 90% resist and conversion). the only problem is lack of : 1- endurance charges 2- life on the tree or somewhere else 3-fortify even if they make armor oh so great it won't help that much with survivability without being able to have more life

GGG Should of just took the time to develop two defense formulas. The current one we have but a separate formula for mobs. Even if the two formulas would be similar, using different Variables in those formulas you can keep them sperate and interact with each other differently. Basically have each formula in its own container; one formula is calculated for the character based on a var if a mob is attacking, and the other formula calculated for the mob based on a var if the character is attacking. This would also solve the issue if needing to buff armor for one side you wouldn't need to have to worry to adjust for every single outcome. Edit: I am aware there are multiple defense systems basically use the logic for those as well if need be. I mainly was explaining as an example for armor since that is what this video is about.

If they weren't, this armour thing, or this kind of balance i.e. 3 ascendancies being so ahead of everything else would get a pass :D There's no way they couldn't just emulate these builds or something close to that in their studio and now they're looking at players and say "hey, that's clever, we didn't think it would work like this !" :D It's a weird thing to say that they've decided to make armour completely useless because if they didn't, it would break other things. That would imply they don't communicate with each other about crucial design decisions, which is hard to believe. It's also hard to believe this is what they came up with and didn't see a problem with it during development. I'm sorry but this screams incompetence if anything :D And from that interview with DM and Ghazzy, it looks like it's very tough for them to admit that they've messed up some fundamental things in this game, because that would go against their 10+ years of experience from PoE 1, and what they said prior to launch of PoE 2 (i.e. PoE 1 is too broken to fix it, but we will fix it in PoE 2 !). For some reason, other ARPGs can make it work way better, but GGG is completely hell-bent on this hidden, overcomplicated hidden math thing that just makes some mechanics worse than better.

They literally removed ascestral totems 25%more attack speed and rage attack speed. Now they made passive notes that reduce your attack speed. I dont know why ggg is so obsessed with low attack speed, but if they dont change it melee will never be good

Chaos monk are all using Poison right now and because they're all using poison. there is support gem called corrosion which makes so that poison breaks 80% of armor. the reason why poison monk are using this is because the clear currently for physical monk is ABYSMAL. when i say Abysmal, it is so terrible that it is completely impossible to clear maps without using poison ranger skills. If you are using skeleton archers. well they have skill called poison arrow and it does poison damage which... again works with corrosion support rune and than. if your using skeleton reavers.... well that build usually Skepter+one hand mace build that uses Armour break so you break armor, it doesn't matter. Most warrior build right now are ALL using hammer of gods with ambush and are stacking critical hit with Bleed or Ignite to 1 shot all bosses or melee units. So because of that, no warriors or melee really care about this armor change. If you think the people using tempest flurry with their 40% physical conversion care when they're screen-wide map clearing herald of lightning+Herald of ice on invoker monk, trust me, those elemental builds don't have issue clearing either.

yeah, i kinda fell in love with the earthshatter/seismic cry combo on warbringer but now I changed to warcry/corrupting cry only. I'm SHOCKED how bad the nodes are. And since there's almost no %life anymore except for that one 3%life node, getting tanky off of the tree is awful. and the phys nodes are a joke. Also no DoT nodes for corrupting cry in that part of the tree.

I’m glad they didn't nerf the only four builds available, but I’m bummed out they didn’t make all the garbage builds useful. Illusion of choice, million things to click but only four things work, at this rate D4 trees made more sense, since they actually did something meaningful, albeit not much choice, but there’s not much of a realistic choice here either. Fingers crossed though, I honestly want the entire passive tree reworked and have it be more synergistic, as well as traveling in-between constellations and not just the main pathways.

I hope it gets cleared up. My natural style in games usually lies between warrior/rogue, so armor or armor/evasion is what I'd be looking at. I'd hate to have to consider playing against my style just to have fun. I wouldn't mind building into shield, but I don't have the spare points to build Int, and I don't want to be required to have item x to convert.

It's a stop gap change that needs a full fix and they're working on dozens of full fixes already, but most of the other ones aren't the flavor of the week. The solution GGG has talked about is going to involve bringing ES and Evasion down and Armor up. If the Armor formula works the same for player and minions, then it's a control point that they turn other variables around to make the value work. There's a massive content void, and breaking keystone values this early into balancing is a huge misstep. A misstep that no one here actually wants, even if they say they do. If I were GGG I would let some new uniques and craft changes take hold after the new season before I went through with significant changes. Who knows? Maybe Armor on gear needs buffed globally! P.S: The lack of armor enabling Uniques and passives really sets it apart from the other defenses.

not 100% sure, but did they upped the armor from the first few nodes from warrior? I remember the first defensive levels giving +20 armor instead of +30 but again, I could be wrong, but if so, there might be more changes on the skill tree armor wise for the player.

How GGG can feel Warrior is in a good place is beyond me. Mace skill tree is literal garbage and armour is the worst defense while also having additional downsides. Being unable to move while using the base Mace attack is just the icing on the cake.

Armor needs a complete rethink. For a start it should just a be a global damage reduction not just a physical one. Also the whole idea about being good against little hits is BS that's the last thing you care about when building a tank. Also needs some sort of compensation for such a huge movement speed penalty. Maybe inate push resistence or stun

Yeah, getting x% damage extra element damage on maps is painfull for warriors, the trash mobs start doing significantly more damage because soo much of the elemental damage goes through compared to physical (on weak hits).

Evasion prevents from small hits as well and it's the best mechanic ever lol. Prevents big hits as well but you still care about small ones. Also mitigating ele dmg with armour makes no sense in reality.

Funnily the way it's implemented in Last Epoch is that armor IS an universal damage reduction, and physical resistance exist among the elemental resistances in the exact same way.

I really, REALLY NEED to know what philosophy, intent, rationality or whatever else drives the choices GGG make whenever melee is involved. Especially considering its treatment relative to any other playstyle. Many of the problems are not even new, they are holdovers from the flaws in PoE's systems that GGG never address despite people making it clear they wanted them to; people eventually just gave up. If it wasn't so consistently inconsistent compared with the the way GGG responded to complaints or solutions to complaints regards to ranged; yet supposedly they made PoE 2 with melee in mind. Technically, the armor buff applying to monsters kind of mitigates the buff to surviveability, what is they phrase? "The worst defense is a bad offense"; or something like that. 😅 I mean trading for example; it is a very flawed system but for good reason and it helps that we understand WHY GGG has it that way. Especially for those that are unhappy with the way it is, at least you know it isn't for no reason rather than because they are unable or unwilling to change it.
I’ve given up on early access. I main warrior and don’t have 12+hrs a day to spend beating my head against the wall that is this games lack of reward for your time and my level 68 warriors defenses still feel borderline nonexistent. Only have two ascendancies and have made it to the final boss on cruel difficulty and it just feels the same as it has my entire play through with no change to gear or anything exciting at all so I’m not interested in the controversial endgame in its current state. Feels like I’ve wasted a couple hundred hours in this game waiting for that power upgrade excitement that I have not found.

They are just incapable of doing what's right for the players. I have a level 93 Titan but cannot beat tier4 end game bosses by all means. My totem is even weaker than gemling legion build with totem which can do all contents with ease. Just delete these unwanted classess, GGG.

In poe1 armor is good because you have other defensive layers that reduce the damage of the hit before it goes to your armor. Those mechanics not only mostly don't exist in 2, but the ones that do work in the opposite order for some reason.

Had a lot of fun with her, but I don't like to be forced to play other classes to do decent. It's the same with D4 with the barbarian. For some reason, these devs just hate melee and put too much love into magic or range.

Yea the excuse that "warriors have block" is just so divorced from the gameplay. Actually useable block takes lots of investment, at the time I've copped out somewhat and gone glancing blows on my warbringer since he is doing 95% of the work with molten blast and really only needs the shield to hopefully save him from oneshots. His block% is definately subpar compared to what it could be even with that. All the primary forms of defense scale with the gear but block does not it can only be scaled through significant investment of passivepoints from the tree and/or ascendancy. Huntress is going to be defensively cracked though with evasion and block... In other news my Titan's response to this supposed armorbuff was to put on a dress :) (hybrid armor/es with about 1.2k+400 and some other goodies).

I think the armour problem is exarcebated by how clunky the melee skills are. (Proposed changes further down) Mace is the main problem. All clunky skills. Magma strike overshoots ur target. Slams takes ages to resolve. Fissures need multiple buttons to run. Warcry adds another button to press. Thorns is a meme. Proposals: Have smoother moving cleave skills. Not a cleave with movement built in, I mean a simple cleave that you can use whilst running and strafing. Shield charge going through magic or lower mob would feel great. Warcry setting to trigger before x,y,z skills when available would be amazing QoL. Lastly, a 'parry' skill when you have a melee weapon + shield equipped for idk 30% added phys mitigation or something. Oh add sone life% nodes on the tree, put it on the outer rim of str section to minimise life to es conversion going out of control Even if Armour isn't "fixed", if melee characters can be more mobile and have the option to parry a big hit (yes we have dodge, but parrying gives you a more tanky feel and that feel is important) I think we won't notice the armour problem as much.

life% nodes on the tree 100%. I'm now a seismic cry/corrupting cry warbringer and I basically never use my main weapon. Only to apply armor break until I've got my 5+6 ascendancy and hammer of the gods every once in a while. The rest is all warcry spamming.

This is also an indirect nerf to leech since you can only leech physical damage. I'm honestly getting really tired of these devs constantly nerfing one thing(even if indirectly) but not the meta builds. It's like a completely different team balances the bottom-left side of the tree versus the rest.

Seismic hit ignores physical damage reduction and corrupted blood is not reduced by armour, Warbringer totem setup also breaks armour so the build is basically untouched to slighty buffed

@Lolabbad the build leans heavily on Hammer of the Gods to deal with bossing, due to the fact you can't scale corrupting blood dot nearly to the degree of direct hit scaling. That skill doesn't ignore armor, so no the build isn't untouched or slightly buffed. Not to mention the point of the post being the insane disparity of build performance and this change effectively nerfing the weakest category of builds while ones currently trivializing content going untouched is ridiculous.

pinnacle bosses have armor in the range of 15k AR. For most physi damage builds your reduction improved by several percentage points and your target's reduction improved by half a percent or less.

Summed up: They didn't fix armor at all, it still negates little or nothing of the big hits. The increase on lower levels massively increase monster toughness, so melee basically got nerfed, and so did minion builds. Trust in GGG to come through on the big promise before launch "we have fixed melee!", as in "you shall never play melee again, POE2 is now a shooter".

If you’re a Titan warrior, try going avatar of flame aoe build with perfect strike for bosses. You can clear your whole screen with one round of mace strike if you build correctly.

PoE 2's early access is literally just going to be them fixing problems they created that were practically fixed or brought to acceptable levels in PoE 1. One might say that PoE 2 should have just been a massive improvement across the board type project for PoE 1 instead of "We're gonna make our own game again but worse in just about every way." Not a single player would have complained about PoE 1 but better. If this patch was the thing we're supposed to be expecting throughout this early access then god help this game. They took those 30$ sales and are swimming in it. Most of this patch could have been a minor one and some of the changes are laughable when you actually think about them. Even the pack size changes and what not weren't too exciting because these things were already fixed in PoE 1 and just done better in that game because you essentially had full agency over them while in this game they tried spinning randomness in the worst way as a positive. They can't just use "Well it took X years for PoE 1 to get there" because they already did it. I still have absolutely no idea with even where this game is going to be why anyone would bother with it over the completely superior version of the game. They're being different for the sake of being different and that's not a good thing when the things they are trying to change were already nailed down or close to it. It's like they're trying their hardest to pull a Diablo 4.

I noticed it as well i compensated by adding pile on and the 2 20% mnode next to it .and OMG the diffrence in night and day. the 100% More damage to mobs with fully broken armour .. shot my dps through the roof.and made even mobs on t15 and up maps 1 tap pop and die..
