Thailand. But don't let you eyes fooled you. Chiang Mai locals hardly dress in fancy way or drive expensive cars. More easy-going and informal. There is no social cost among them since they know among each other who is who.

Also they don't like tall buildings (There are lots of signs against buildings around the city) because these buildings blocked the scenery of the city (There is a municipal rule forbidden any building taller than 12 meters in the city area), but their saving per capita is the 3rd of all TH provinces, not to talk that TH per capita income is 2.5 times of PH.

Even those sellers. Some who have live in CM for generations usually have passive income. An example goo.gl/iE5BZ5 He sells fried chicken, but he owns a building at the back of CMU. The average rent on that area is 50,000 PH peso per month--his passive income. If you can read Thai, read the comments and see for yourself.

Reading your comment and the replies reminds me of what a Chiang Mai local said to me. He said "Only an idiot puts all the gold he has on his body at once" That's the different between Filipino and Thai. That's why their saving rate and their GDP/cap are higher.
