8:15 Finally a professional coach who talks about this. I have no idea why, but nobody EVER talks about keybinds. I never use fully default controls for any game, because the default controls are never actually optimal for competitive play. The devs don't have the time to be thinking about that crap. Good general rule-of-thumb for setting up your keybinds: - If you have any keys bound which you don't use, unbind them for more freedom for more important keys, and to make things easier to manage. - If you have any common keys bound to where they aren't immediately accessible, bind them closer to where your fingers normally are. - For the most common actions, prioritise binding them to keys like: > 2, 3, TAB, Q, E, R, CAPS, F, LSHIFT, Z, X, C, LCTRL, LWIN, LALT, SPACEBAR. > All of your mouse keys, obviously. Just make sure you don't ever have to change grips to press a certain mouse key while in the process of aiming on an enemy. > G, V, 1, 4 for keys that you might not want to accidentally press, such as Drop, Equip Bomb, your Ultimate, etc. Using keys further than all of these listed is just unnecessary finger travel, which could slow you down, cause misinputs, misclicks, worst-case you get RSI. - If you notice that you can't perform certain required inputs at the same time, fix that problem. Try a different finger or bind the keys differently. - That push-to-talk bind might not affect you much in Silver, but it very much could have consequences further up the ranks... and in my opinion, collectively, how you customise all of your keybinds will make a noticeable difference once you start getting comfortable with the game. I've noticed some really good benefits with how I bind my keys tailored perfectly to which fingers I use for which keys, and based on what I find comfortable. Even collectively, it makes a small difference, but it's easy enough to fix on-the-fly to where there is no real reason not to make necessary changes while you play and improve at a given game.
