I'm excited to try some of these books!! But I have to ask- I saw a little news blurb the other day about a village in the northern Catskills of New York called Hobart and immediately thought of you. It's an entire village of books, many different types of bookstores I guess...Have you ever been there? It's certainly been put on my bucket list! 😊

I haven't been to Hobart. It's a couple hours away from my mom. I would love to visit there someday.

I feel like I’ve been hearing about Brandon Sanderson in a variety of BookTuber videos! The book you read sounds interesting. I have to check out this author. And I added The Murder of Mr. Wickham to my TBR. Love anything Jane Austen related.

@Krista based on your description of The Shell Seekers, you might enjoy “Cold Comfort Farm” by Stella Gibbons. It’s a fun read that revolves around some family drama.
@BooksAndJamsАй бұрын
I had Cold Comfort Farm on my shelves at one point, but it's been unhauled. Family Drama is typically an anti-buzz word for me, but it worked in Pilcher's book.
@rebecca_is_book-hookedАй бұрын
@@BooksAndJams Totally understand that, but this one is humorous. I went into Cold Comfort Farm blind, but really enjoyed it. I got it from a list of books recommended to read before you die. I’ve seen it described as “Jane Austen stumbling into The Beverly Hillbillies”. Maybe try a chapter to see if you’re intrigued.

I'm making my way thought a lot of Pilcher's books this year, and some are much better than others. I think you'd really enjoy Winter Solstice (read it around Christmas time).

I LOVE Rosamunde Pilcher and am trying to collect/ get all her bks. I read The Shell Seekers when I came home in July from surgery(hosp.) and rehab.Both places were nightmares for me w/ life threatening episodes. I was on pain meds when I came home. Due to ALL that, not the right time to read, didn't really enjoy, hard time keeping all characters straight. I WILL re-read. I just finished Nosy Neighbors by Freya Sampson. LOVED it, couldn't put it down. Will read her other 2 bks. I enjoyed your video trip to your Mom's SOOO much, I rewatched it. Thanks 🤗

I read the Shell Seekers ages ago and your description makes me want to reread it. I had two four stars in August. One was a cozy mystery called Anxious in Nevada. I enjoyed it while I was reading it but it wasn’t an especially “good” book. However, I would recommend it to those who love cozy mysteries. I also finished the Maisie Dobbs series. I would give the overall series 4.5 stars although there were several 5 stars mixed in.

I haven't found a cozy yet that I've given 5 stars to. But they are enjoyable. I love that you finished Maisie Dobbs! Amazing. I need to pick up the next one. I think I'm on book 4.

I only read five books in August. Of those, I liked three the best, although I don't think any of them was five stars. The three I enjoyed most was My Favorite Half-Night Stand by Christina Lauren, Star-Crossed by Minnie Darke - which was a surprise for me. Very interesting story telling, although potentially confusing - and Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan. (The latter was such a quick read. Monaghan's writing is very readable. ) I enjoyed Monaghan's Nora Goes Off Script better, this was still good.
@BooksAndJamsАй бұрын
Nice. I have heard of Nora Goes off Script, but not the one you mentioned.Do you think I would like Annabel Monaghan books?
@sassycatz4470Ай бұрын
@@BooksAndJams I think you might. I can't recall any explicit sex or language. Probably more suggested. They tend to be about women finding themselves, family, and are more like dramedies - rather than comical or all drama.

Thanks for the wrap up. I read a WWII book called When the Men Where Gone. It's based on the true story about a woman who coached the high school football team in her town because there wasn't anyone else that could do it and then push back she got. I thought it was great and would love to see it adapted to a movie. If anyone likes A League of Their Own I think they would like this.

From the title I never would have thought that is what The Shell Seekers would be about but I do like a good family drama so maybe I'll listen to it on audiobook. Mind Games sounds quite trippy. I read a few great books in August, one of them being the third in the Timeless series. Another was That Summer in Berlin by Lecia Cornwall, which I think you'd like.

Agent 355 is a short story about a nameless woman in history who bravely spied on the British and reported her findings to George Washington’s men. We will never know exactly what happened to her, or anything other details besides her code name: Agent 355 (An Audible Exclusive). Author, Marie Benedict, has a passion for teaching us as much as she can find about the brave American women who helped our soldiers win battles throughout history. As soon as Series September is over I plan on reading The Only Woman in the Room. In this story Marie Benedict details Hedy Lamar’s brave actions of leaving Hitler’s compound to bring news of Hitler’s plans to the Allied Forces. For some reason I read Hind’s Feet during the winter months? I look forward to watching your videos about this story.
