We get at least one heat & serve meal a week from costco and they're such a great starting point for your dinner. It's definitely worth doctoring them up so I think of them like a shortcut rather than like a done deal right out of the box. Some of my favorites are adding worcestershire sauce to the meatloaf and for the yakisoba, steaming the veggies in chicken broth. Also chili garlic sauce goes excellently with the yakisoba. One day I'd love to try doctoring up the sauce that comes with it by mixing in the chili garlic before cooking it (we don't because my toddler doesn't like spicy). We also will often add steamed broccoli to the mac & cheese or the alfredo to cut down on the richness - I hadn't thought about lemon juice for the alfredo, I'll definitely try it next time.

genuine question: why are the meals so gigantic? is this meant to be for a whole family? or for multiple days? honestly curious, i am not from america and i'm shocked by how incredibly large the meals are. can someone kindly explain?
@crp95 Жыл бұрын
Costco to-go meals are in larger portions typically because they are there to feed at least 4 people or more. I’ve seen lots of Costco at get-togethers with larger groups. Costco is a wholesale retailer that sells many bulk items (tailored to families or groups) so to get a to-go meals from there it makes sense that they would feed multiple people
@mandydini Жыл бұрын
I’m American and I would feed probably 4 people with the chicken pot pie with some leftovers? But I’m going off what it looked like, I’ve never actually had one of those. Someone else might know better. To me they looked like they are for families yes
@gateauxgato Жыл бұрын
Costco in general is meant for families or multiple meals. They sells lots of products in bulk, like 24 cans of soup or three pound packages of broccoli. It is literally shopping in a warehouse that has deli/bakery stuff attached, so between the bulk purchasing and the no frills environment it can be very cost effective. I don't have a membership because my household is small and it's not nearby, but it's great for bigger families or events.
