I know you are busy, the question I have on this video is understanding your strength. You said it was fishing deep grass. How deep is deep and what is your approach? I fish in central Nebraska and I am trying to figure out if that is where the bass go when they are no longer shallow. I know you know Nebraska lakes , mainly the i80 lakes. Do these lakes have the deep grass you refer to? Thanks

Listening to episode 311 of wet fly swing lately. It was about Michigan.
@academicmailbox77982 жыл бұрын
It was interesting. Brian Kozminski was talking about the four hundred approximate invasive species of flora and fauna. That have arrived into the Michigan area water systems. Over the last couple of decades. And how it's become an even larger deal. Following the success of the kayak platform for fishing (it's something that applies though even to wading fishing). Brian explained how he would use different waders even. For different water systems in the State area he is in.

I often look at the guys using their bass angling boats on the circuits. They take some care with this too. I notice looking at competitions lately. Some on Grand Lake (part of the Arkansas river system with Eufaula impoundment). Not as many competitions on Beaver, Table Rock or Bull Shoals system. The White River system. Just curious to know. That from a kayak fishing point of view. One is more northerly in location than the other. They are parts of different river systems I think. I am just curious to know. That from a fishing point of view. If there are differences that one would find. From the angling point of view? Between the White River lakes. And the Arkansas river ones? Of if they fall into a similar category. From a fishing experience and strategy point of view.
@academicmailbox77982 жыл бұрын
Lake Dardenelles often comes up in various Fish the Moment classes. On fishing strategy. And I've heard the Hibdons and other anglers. I think talk about Lake of the Ozarks a lot too (an entirely different river system again). I'd imagine that climate variation between these fishing locations. Is not huge. I wonder though from a kayak fishing point of view. Does it mean that one has to think very differently. About these different locations?
@academicmailbox77982 жыл бұрын
It's just that from a travel perspective too. Back to Kozminski's argument about Michigan for example. When one has so many different watersheds. That are in close proximity like that (and anglers or guides will regularly just move between one and the other). He thinks about it a lot. He offered some examples of the species of fauna in particular. That had a destruction impact. On the habitat for things such as crawfish. One of the fauna, a type of algae. Which had traveled all of the ways from Tennessee State. Where it's most common. All of the ways north to Michigan State (one of the fisheries and wild life folks who happened to complete his dissertation on that algae was floating down river with Brian, when they put the brakes on to investigate it). And sure enough, upon analysis. It was the Tennessee algae. That had gone all of that distance up north.
@academicmailbox77982 жыл бұрын
Montana State in particular he explained. Was careful about it (the boats and kayaks etc that come and go across it's State lines). So it's a thing that is kind of administered down at States level. Looking at places such as Eufala though. The Arkansas and White river systems. There's Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri. A lot of different borders. Between a lot of different States. And those river systems. Just move over and back across all of it. One would wonder. How one would get any overview. Someone mentioned too. Grand Lake for example, the high schools from several States around there. Converge on top of the one lake from all angles. Doing event after event. To cater for the demand nowadays. Of these sports and tournaments. It's just an awful lot of boats and vessels. Driving around over an awful lot of area. That's all. Apart from the 'fishing pressure'. Which anglers talk about too. A recent event I think on Texoma reservoir. Gave a lot of Toyota circuit anglers some pause for consideration. When there was around five hundred bass boats together. In one place (and they had to implement a kind of boat queue system). To fish there at all. Like what are we doing?
