I can read between the lines and surmise Royal has put in place a social media/ vlogging policy for staff. Every cruise ship content maker I follow has always showed the company in good light and they don't let vlogging interfere with their work duties. It would be a shame to lose this type of content all around because cruise ship life (especially for entertainers) is interesting and so very different from the typical land-based jobs most people have.

It's mostly just free advertisement to the company, so if it's true that they've put restrictions on it, egg on their face.

I suspect the Cruise Line's lawyers are worried about both potential guest privacy concerns and/or liability in the event of an accident. Even if there's no connection between a given vlogger & a particular incident, an effective lawyer will use it as evidence that the ship's work culture could allow the crew to be distracted from their primary jobs (true or not, it only matters what you can convince a jury). The free advertising pales in comparison to the potential costs. Plus, various cruise lines give travel vloggers free trips for the same reason (c.f Emma Cruises & NCL)

I’ve watched for a long time, and rarely (if ever?) have commented. I’m from Ontario, and a Carnival dancer alumni! It too, was my dream job, but I was committed to going to university and eventually becoming a chiropractor… and that’s my new dream job! I was 19 when I was hired, and now I’m 36, but STILL cherish those cruise ship memories like they were yesterday. My cabin mate came to my wedding from Sweden a few years ago, and I am headed there this summer for her big 50th birthday celebration! Whether you do 1 contract like me, or 21, the memories will always hold a special place in your heart. PS - even with running my own chiro practice, and having a 2 and 4yo, I STILL manage to do some sub teaching at our local dance studio and now take my daughter to mom and tot classes every week. Dance on, girl xo

Best of luck in the new path! It makes sense now how other RC dancers like Jordan Bauth and Wanderlust Alley were going the business road these last months. As a pianist that also works on ships, it makes sense to eventually try to create a business or something to stop being dependent on these kind of sea jobs. Life at sea gets less romantic the more you do it.

Skaters don’t technically work for Royal. They’re contracted by the production company that puts on the show Wiley bietak. Jordan hasn’t said she’s not going back - to the contrary she’s mentioned in her last q and a she’s going back to ship life.

I feel like companies doing this (Delta Airlines did this recently too) are cutting off their nose to spite their face. These vloggers by and large bring great positive attention to their companies. And cutting off any negative attention there might be doesn’t stop the negatives from happening, but they lose all the positive. Gracie O'Connor doesn't work for them (full time) but she has been on their cruise ships for FREE to promote their lines as an influencer (unless it was a different cruise line)... but that's okay? But an actual employee can't do that? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? It's clear they only want the free advertisement when it benefits them. You dodged a bullet honestly. They should realize how GREAT the free promotion is for them especially with how popular travel content is now. Good luck with your future endeavors though!

Everything has a reason on the season and now that your family is based in Spain, you can travel all over Europe and anywhere you want just by hopping on a train or a quick plane flight. You no longer have to make sacrifices like living in a tiny room… you’ll make friends and have experiences on your own terms.
