You are not only a fine artist, but also an excellent teacher. You helped me understand why my salt trees just didn't work out. I also appreciate that you show how your mix colors.

What a magical painting to watch develop and ended with the best finish really looking like a frozen lake in the woods. Thank you for sharing Kristin I love the salt technique is very special. Also interesting how it reacted with different pigment too so that was helpful. Having the reddish touches at the end is very effective and leaves the areas bright and crisp. Enjoy your day 😊

Thanks for this video. I love all of the tips you give us. I would never have thought to use a magenta as a final accent. It really took it to a new level.
@kristinvanleuvenСағат бұрын
Thank you! Yes magenta is just the best color for that especially with browns

I love it! I love that you are using a limited palette…what fun, mixing your colors. I so enjoy that! Your painting came out beautiful!❤️. I am so going to try this. Thank you for showing the different values of paint and different amounts of water,,and amounts of salt. It really makes a difference. I might make up a study like you did and put I in a reference book. Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial.

Just a suggestion-remove the salt with an old credit card and save your brushes!

That’s such a great tip! Thank you

Try this with Neutral Tint. It reacts a lot with the salt.

This is beautiful did u use normal or rock salt ? And can I use with paint for the snow ?

It's like a hit & miss for me with the salt technique. Could you explain why the salt i applied melted? I bought different varieties of salt just in case 😅
@kristinvanleuvenКүн бұрын
@@vimlarani7575 melted?! Oh my gosh I have never seen that before! I’ve had the best success with kosher salt and it really is hit or miss for me too depending on how much pigment/water I use and sometimes the brand of paint I use as well
@vimlarani7575Күн бұрын
@kristinvanleuven I will try out the processes you've shown. I hope to get the right balance. Thanks

It was too wet and salt too fine if it immediately dissolved. You have to let it dry so,e..but not Too much .
@vimlarani757514 сағат бұрын
Yes...the salt was fine come to think of it. I had better results with a coarser sea salt
@JoyceDlugokinski6 сағат бұрын
What type salt did you use?
@kristinvanleuvenСағат бұрын
Kosher sea salt from my kitchen 😅

I tried this technique, but it just didn't work at all. I don't know what I did wrong. I followed this exact technique 😐
@jilll128722 сағат бұрын
Are you using 100% cotton paper?
@Lulis5620 сағат бұрын
Let the painting dry a little bit-it should still be shiny but not wet.
