This is an incomplete play-through of Arcade mode using Dust of Osiris in the PS2 version of Melty Blood: Actress Again. Read on below for more information...
Dust of Osiris is the main and final boss for most of the characters in the game. She is an unplayable character.
===== ABOUT DUST OF OSIRIS =====
Dust of Osiris is a potential future version of the regular character Sion Eltnam Atlasia, created from the remnants of Wallachia. Her monster/beast accomplice is actually a computing unit named Hermes, to which Osiris refers to as her main body. When fighting in the game, Hermes does all the work whilst Osiris stands on it's platform.
Gameplay-wise, Dust of Osiris is basically a "giant" character which cannot be stunned... she has a number of powerful strikes which knocks the opponent down or away. Sion herself also has her own move where she travels forward with a wrapping Etherlight strike, this is a very good move with a large hitbox and high priority that knocks the opponent back if it hits. Her Arc Drive super is unblockable and takes off about 60% of the opponent's life. Here is the other information on her:
---- Most interestingly, she has three "special moves" which are not intended to be used during a fight, these moves are her: 1) Lose Pose; 2) Win Pose; and 3) Pre-Fight Intro.
Performing the Win Pose and Lose Pose moves whilst during an active fight will make her perform the animation, however will result in her unable to regain control. In the case of the Lose Pose, she just disappears after the animation.
Performing the Pre-Fight Intro will make her rise up from the ground. You can do this as many times as you like. It could act as a evasive move.
---- On the character select screen, her icon slot is in the same place as Yumiduka Satsuki.
---- On the character select screen, she does not have an image portrait, however the "fading shadow" (for when you highlight different characters) of her does appear briefly.
---- On the character select screen, she is named as MICHAEL ROA VALDAMJONG.
---- She can only be used with the Crescent Moon Style. She won't appear in gameplay in you select any other Style.
---- She only has the one colour palette you see in the video. When selecting her colour on the character select screen, the boxes are all white, but this doesn't mean anything.
---- Her image portrait appears on the map/route screen despite being a non-selectable character.
---- If you go into her Command List, it's blank.
---- She can block, but it is faulty and will leave her frozen. She can regain control though. This block can be activated by the opponent performing multiple strikes on her whilst the player holds back.
---- She cannot jump.
---- She can crouch, however you cannot perform any basics whilst in this state.
---- When selected by a human player, in the fights, the screen is zoomed into the default view, causing a lot of Dust of Osiris' sprite to be cut-off from the screen. This is different to when you fight her as the CPU boss, where the screen is purposely zoomed out so that you can see most of her.
---- If you play through single-player Arcade mode with her, the game will always halt at the pre-fight scenes on the stages where a dialogue conversation with the opponent would occur. This is due to Osiris having no storyline interaction dialogues of her own.
===== ABOUT MELTY BLOOD AA =====
Melty Blood started off as a doujin game on the PC which was released back in 2002... it was basically a spin-off game of the visual novel Tsukihime. Therefore obviously, the game contains characters and story elements from the novel. The game has evolved a lot since then, so much that the later games saw release on the Arcade and PS2 platforms. In 2016, a Steam version of Current Code was released.
The gameplay of Melty Blood is all about the chain combos and pure rushdown... if you want to play this competitively then your reaction time and combo'ing ability better be up to scratch.
