Actually he's LITERALLY Gouki at SNK universe. - He threw away his sanity and humanity at sake of becoming the perfect warrior[Like Gouki does in SF] - He holds back in "worthless" fights, until he finds the ultimate challenge[Like Gouki] - He uses a forbidden fighting style with a demonic hidden power[Mugen-Ryuu = Ansatsuken's Satsui no Hadou] - He killed his own family in the process[Like Gouki did with Goutetsu and almost did with Gouken] - He's a giant colossus [Like Gouki, both are scarier tall] - Designwise, both are kinda similar [non pupil demon-like eyes, stylized hair, flaming demon aura, strong voice, a stylized kimono, beefy body, etc] - They're ultimate rivals of the protagonists[Zankuro vs. Haohmaru and Gouki vs. Ryu] I honestly would be happy if in CvS3 Zankuro was the real Gouki rival instead of Rugal.

Wished that they had kept Yumeji, the character is a very interesting one, unlike Sankuro. Thankfully she is back in 6 (it's a she disguised as a guy to fight war, as Japan's stance on women fighting war would have been heavily frowned upon). I know SNK left it up to players imaginations about the gender, but Yumeji is female.
