As the guardian of civilization, it is Mumei's duty to observe and record such events, but also to not interfere, and she's had thousands of years to observe as we do the same things, over and over again, never learning a goddamn thing... No-one could stand by and watch all that shit - knowing full well that if they'd stepped in and taken matters into their own hands even once, they could have prevented it all - and come out on the other side with their mind intact.
