I'm a cyclist for about 10 years and never got on any of those recumbents. How are those like going up hill? Is it more challenging than a typical road bike? Thanks.

YES. I am not a Roadbike racer, i commuted around 30km a day with my dutch style Citybike, i recently got a recumbent trike (a used KMX Cobra) now i do this daily trip with this new vehicle. Yes it is faster after all, but climbing is That much harder (because you can´t relaiy on your bodyweight to boost the impact on the padels, its pure leg muscle power).

Yes, they are heavier and you are unable to put your body weight behind a pedal stroke. They are great for cyclists with back problems, instability, poor balance etc. They are faster downhill due to less aerodynamic drag and increased weight. They do have an advantage against the wind but on the flats it may be difficult to keep up with a serious road bike. Very fun, like a go cart, low fun to corner speed is magnified due to low ride height but they can roll.
