I never have a problem maintaining my point of view as a Black man in America. However, there a few things that make me take a breath and reaffirm my commitment to stay true because sometimes I may miss an opportunity to educate or set someone straight. For example, the movie Malcolm X, certain episodes of some TV shows, an interview with Dr. Cornel West and definitely anytime I hear Lawrence Kris Parker aka KRS 1 spit hot fire. It makes me want to run out in the street and knock on doors like a Jehovah's Witness to tell anyone why and how proud I am to be a Black man.

There's nothing about this that isn't sitting right next to Malcolm, Angela, and Kwame and begging us to listen. This is a critical analysis of the political, social, cultural, spiritual, and economic conditions. He's been doing this since Boogie Down. KRS is a theorist and artist. KRS-ONE.......It's great to know that our Heroes are still alive and being prolific at their craft. "You Must Learn" was one of the first cassette singles I bought with my own money back in the 80's as a teenager. I'm 44 now and I have a huge collection of your music. It's been both a joy to be entertained and inspired by. I have a huge respect for your contributions and influence in Hip-Hop around the globe. With all that being said, I have a bit of a problem with your self-proclaiming to be the "THE GREATEST RAPPER/EMCEE OF ALL TIME". Your discography would definitely put you in that conversation, BUT as an objective fan I can't give you that title without ignoring "Black Thought". You have to admit the dude is an absolute beast. His home is the live show stage. His freestyles are unmatched. His original band spawned Scott Storch whose contributions to Hip-Hop are enormous. They've been on tour and/or in a live show setting for longer than any other Hip-Hop act. No one has even attempted to match Black Thought's performance on Funk Flex's show. I'm gunna need you to match that before I can accept you self-proclaiming to be the best of all time. Would you REALLY want to go against Black Thought in a freestyle battle? I'd love to hear your response to that. Despite my challenge, I bid you Love and Respect!

Remember when KRS said, "We will be here forever" on one of the albums from the early 1990's? He wasn't kidding. He's still killing it in his mid-50's. 23 albums? Damn, who else can say that?
@gunnerysgthartman92634 жыл бұрын
This is an amazing album!! It's everything music /art could and should be. It reflects and addresses the times, concerns, and values of society. It's progressing the art while still firmly planted in the roots, and it makes you think and feel deeply. Those are the things any great artist looks to do in their chosen art form. The album is entertaining, informative, and inspiring; all at the same time. The choice of African drums and horns was brilliantly used. Great production throughout. Some were bangers and some experimental, but all were good and creative. And, what can you say about KRIS that hasn't been said many times. One of the best lyricists ever, but he even somehow outshines his normal brilliance this time. The lyrical content is exactly what needs be said right now, and it's from someone whose voice means something. People know he is a highly intelligent and educated man; and that his heart is in the right place. So when you have an legendary, well respected artist , accomplish what every great artist aspires to; you get a masterpiece. Thank you KRS One for being you and doing what you do. Keep fighting the good fight. Much love
