why would someone use the Tetra Control as opposed to a regular DMX controller? Is it easier to figure out?
@KrisSzanto2 жыл бұрын
Great question Daniel. If your lights are compatible.... yes it is sooo much easier. This is pretty much plug n play. You have multiple chase possibilities a bunch of colors and so much more. What makes it easier than dmx is you do not have to learn to program anything. Just how to address your fixtures. Once you do that u turn a couple knobs to get colors and chases and push a couple buttons to decide fade or jumps... strobes etc... standard dmx controllers require individual faders for colors, step by step programming of colors and which lights are on amd off etc. This is time consuming especially for a beginner. Does dmx have its benefits? OH YES! But if you are looking for a nice quick show for uplights or wash lights this is awesome. This is not for movers or fx lights. If u decide on it please make sure you check to see if your lights are compatible. If you know the dmx profile I can help you to know if it is compatible.

@KrisSzanto2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I am sorry i do not completely understand your question. Master slave is most often used in an auto or sound mode where the "slave" will do the same as the "master" (dear KZbin these are lighting terms, not hate speach) as far as matching intensity with dmx the fixtures would either be addressed to the same channel or you would have multiple fixtures or groups enabled on your controller and one fader would control the same parameter on each light. Does this make sense? Answer your question?

@@KrisSzanto thank you for getting back to me and my apologies for not being clear(er). Maybe explaining my intended use will better address my question. I want to have a few pars lighting me up while the bar is washing the wall behind me. Ideally, they are master/slave so they coordinate colors. I don't want the pars very bright because it'll be too much for personal lighting, but would still like strong, bright washing on the wall behind me. I don't use DMX since I usually perform solo or duet and am always looking for a way to minimize load in and out. I hope this helps.

@@Carlosensei I think you have answered your own question. The only way to keep them changing together without a controller is in auto modes and by linking them together (master/slave) they will do exactly the same. So, i do not think there will be a way to do what u are asking unless you either dont link them together (the wall wash and the front of stage lights) or you dmx them with a small controller. Dmx is best option which can be really small and fast. The only thing you would be doing differently is adding a controller, an extra dmx cable and power cable for the controller. :) But of course a little bit of learning... a couple hours.

I was disappointed at first with this Venue Tetra Control for the same reason as many others. It did not work and could not work properly with any par light that puts master dimmer pm Channel 1. I finally broke down and bought a Tetra Light Bar, like the one this fellow in the video was demonstrating. HOWEVER, before buying that light bar which properly works, I did do some interesting experimenting. Not that it does exactly what it is supposed to do, but by putting 4 par lights on the following starter channels, I did get MORE variety out of the Venue Tetra Controller. I put them on 3, 10, 17 and 4 - in that order. The 3, 10 and 17 end up being interestingly synched and the 11 (which could also be set to 4 with the same results) adds a little something different. With just 3 par lights, rather than 4, I would just set them to 3,10,17. Again, this will not make the lights do exactly what the Venue Tetra Controller is supposed to do, but it will create shows that are interesting. That is what WORKED (???) for me. Now, another person found that on their particular cheap par lights, they found that they could get 3 par lights working by setting them to 7,14 and 21. That makes since, because you are dropping the channel numbers (-1) which properly puts 7,14,21 on RED. You can't get a 4th PAR working on 28, because there is no such thing as channel 29 on the controller - well, this starts to get a little strange and freaky as you play with these things. The real truth is that this controller pretty much works as intended ONLY IF YOU BUY the Venue brand stuff (Tetra Bar, Tetra 6 PAR, Tetra 12 PAR). I have seen where this also works with older Venue model lights like their THIN PAR 64. The reason is that they put RED ON 1, not master dimmer on 1. There are probably some other lights out there that would work, but I couldn't find any. This is an RGBA (Red, Green, Blue, Amber) light controller and you cannot have master dimmer on channel 1. It has to be addressed 1=RED, 2=GREEN, 3 =BLUE, 4=AMBER. So, play with it, set to different starting addresses with other brand lights, or break down and spend the roughly $170 for the Tetra Bar, $360 for four Tetra Par 6 or $480 for four Par 12.
@KrisSzanto2 ай бұрын
@WillyWithAwhY Thanks for the post. The tetra 6 and 12 should be set at 1, 8, 15, 22. However you want to set them to 4ch mode. This way they will work as they were designed to. Also, there is a newer version coming out soon!
