Well folks, I'm back! For those of you who reside within Los Angeles or Orange County here in California, consider this your belated Christmas gift. It's another montage of jingles and sweepers from K-Earth 101 from 2001 and 2002, when they mostly played oldies from the 50's to the 70's. Let the fun and memories begin! I will have a complete listing of songs played before or after these jingles. And of course, there will be plenty of Christmas songs thrown in the mix as well. Note: At around 2:55, during one of the songs you will hear a monkey screaming. That's because from February to April of 2002, they were doing a contest called King Kong Cash, where listeners had to listen for a "Money Monkey" to scream. When he screamed, people had to call a certain number to win $1000 cash. That monkey could scream at any time, whether during a commercial or while a song was playing.

Listening to these jingles and sweepers make me want to search for a wonderful, former job coach I had. Her name's Phyllis Durant. Before and after work, she would drive us around so she could turn to KRTH! Me and co-workers had lots of fun with her! In May 2004 sadly, we switched to another job coach. Since she isn't around, I just wish she lived about 5 houses down from us.

Back when KRTH was semi-decent. The repetition was high I remember, but beats today's programming by a ton!

Fun fact, 3 of their cuts are sound-alikes to 3 classic packages. The cuts are from when Johnny Mann started adding in backing tracks to their cuts. The 1 before hey there lonely girl is one of them, originally did in the TM Airworks package. The other 2 are from TM’s alternative package. The demo’s on here, so you can listen for yourself. I believe they are cuts 1 and 3.

My favorite KRTH legal ID was the one they used from about 2006-2013 which was an updated version of the old KHJ brass and drums ID.

They must have reduced the playlist by quite a lot later on, because I don't remember some of these songs playing at all. In fact, nearly all of the jingles aren't familiar to me either. They must have had the station running on automatic by the time I stopped listening around 15 years ago.

Well, Asiatic Bear, that voice you hear in-between songs is none other than Charlie Van Dyke. There used to be another Charlie who worked there at K-Earth, his name was Charlie Tuna. But this announcer is Charlie Van Dyke. Got it?

@NoBoundariesInSight2023
@NoBoundariesInSight2023 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the very first song that begins this video is called "You Didn't Have to Be So Nice," recorded by the iconic 60's group "The Lovin' Spoonful." Then after the first voice-over or sweeper you'll hear a few seconds of "Bad Moon Risin'" by Creedence Clearwater Revival or CCR.
