Great summary, I agree with you about Shingwedzi's ablution blocks that are so far apart. There must be one exstra for the campers. Enjoy Tankwa.

Lekker video!!! I also love the Kruger but now live a bit far for a quick trip. Good news is that I'm off to Addo early next month.

Have you thought of getting Starlink for your WiFi? Great video once again and remember you guys qualify for pensioners discount 40% off your camping fees from 1 May.

We definitely make use of our pensioner rates and long stay discounts 👏👏. Re Starlink , mine is waiting for me at home, just delivered, but after we had already ordered ours, the story came out about it being blocked in SA. However, We are currently in camp with friends who have Starlink, and it’s still working perfectly, so here’s hoping it stays like that 👏👏

Good recap. We have been to Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe and we loved our times there. We were lucky enough to do Chobe twice and Hwange. You are correct, South Africa is less expensive for not just its citizens, but tourists. We are doing, next week, a month in Greater Kruger, with day trips to the Kruger. For the same money, we could do 10 days to two weeks in the rest of Southern Africa. It's a long way from Canada with expensive air flights. So you want the best value for money. Keep on trucking.

If you do the Lebombo overland echo trail LOET, then it is 5 days just you and the bush, camping in bush camps on the eastern side of park, pricey but great

Cool video..... I also love the Kruger and you are absolutely correct about the staff. I took my children on a game walk with armed guides and it still is the highlight for them of our trip to to the KNP. A pack of hyenas were chasing another away from the pack and ran passed us about 2 metres away. We saw rhinos and could enjoy close ups of paw prints. absolutely incredible.

Great summary thanks. We were in Kruger at the end of March (saw you near Satara). We have a Fuso FG6 based camper, but from Cape Town it takes too many days to get to Kruger, so we flew into Skukuza and picked up a rental, which is an absolute treat! You have not said anything about the KZN Wildlife parks; what is your opinion on those at the present time?
@thebuffalooverlander
@thebuffalooverlander 3 ай бұрын
Aah wonderful. The KZN parks we do enjoy. They obviously are smaller and less organised than Kruger, but still worthwhile. It’s a pity that Mfolozi Hluhluwe doesn’t allow camping , and the Mpila shop is a disgrace, and I just wish they would invest in that to make it more pleasurable , but all in all, we do enjoy the parks in KZN. The hides in Mkuze are incredible too

Kruger have unfenced camps, our vet friends regularly went to, called Bush Camps then

Like I said, I don’t think they have commercial, open to the public on the website, unfenced camps available at normal cost. If you do know of any, please let us know , because the website shows nothing

Thanks for the video. We are also planning on doing a 1-2 month trip to Kruger in the near future. Were there always sites available at the campsites? Did you phone ahead of time or just pitch up? Or did you book online for your next stop? In general how did the whole getting a campsite work?
@thebuffalooverlander
@thebuffalooverlander 2 ай бұрын
We normally just travel and get sites , but for places like Kruger and Kwhai, it’s probably better to book ahead, depending on time of the year, holidays etc. What you can do is book beforehand for whatever camps you think you want but it’s then so easy to change when you’re in Kruger. You just go to any camp reception and make any changes you want to. If they have space, which they normally do, they change it there and then for you and it really is so easy. We always make changes when we’re in Kruger 👏👏. Have fun
