Rebel blew my mind! Rewatched the battle quite a few times. His moves are diverse, some subtle that are genius, and eloquent. Unfortunately, his opponet, jigsaw, wasted so much attention and therefore energy 'attacking' Rebel. Therefore highlighting him even more. REBEL, you are truely amazing dancer! Hope to see more videos of you on Inet!

Rebel.... for being so smooth and fluent(as well as being able to keep your temper in check), you win.... Hands Down!! Jig was a disrespectful ass as soon as he stepped out on the floor. It's cool if he touches you but not if you touch him? Don't think so. As well, he should chill on getting all up in somebody's 'personal dance space'!!

Jigsaw has always been known to be like this. He's too beefy for his own good I think. He often resorts to this style when he lacks material or when he just wants to make a point. This is a dance man, it's always been dance and Jigsaw always takes things personal in battles and it doesn't look good. Speak through the dance & material not by being physical.

Jigsaw really didnt need to be pulling on him like that to prove his skills! Krumping is an emotive dance in general but both of them were conveying two different emotions. Jigsaw's one was too aggressive, I felt Rebel's dancing more. Plus Rebel had more technical skill, Jigsaw was just jumping about the place.

Both battlers displayed unique approaches to each other and within their krump style. Rebel, whom I personally favor, demonstrated a very fluent, smooth technique. His transitions were in sync with the rhythms of the music mostly. His power moves landed on que due to his momentum, (which isn't easy to do by a long shot) and he was able to maintain the pace and involve different body parts effortlessly. They're his strengths. His "power" moves could've used a bit more edge. He still did a hell of a job though. His opponent definitely didn't hesitate to enforce aggression in his rountine. His transitions weren't as smooth as Rebel's, but his intensity definitely made up for it. That definitely helped his power moves land the intended impact. In the end, they both put up a great battle.

I JUST LOVE KRUMP DANCE, YES !! Krump is such an art form and its so original and it can be done in many different ways and styles. Its actually an African original art form, the way that they can come out and originate anything out of the blue and make it into something. Krump is even more classic than any other dance type. Also, this video is great. Excellent, that is !!!!!!!!!!!!

So much nonsense being talked. Yes, Jigsaw came off as a dick. No need to stretch your opponent's $300 plain grey t-shirt. No need to grab his hat. (The "knee to the face" moment? Legit: Rebel walked onto the floor and offered himself as an element to incorporate. As I'm sure he was hoping, Jigsaw took the bait and made an ugly, untalented move that brought everyone's attention back to Rebel during Jigsaw's turn.) All of which amounts to this: Jigsaw's showmanship backfired and he came out looking like a dick. Many of you seem to think that means he lost. He didn't. Because this isn't a friendliness contest. It was a krumping battle. So, with that in mind, let's put or feelings about how rude the dark skinned man was aside. Maybe leave the rest of our casual racist knee-jerk instincts at the door as well. (I'd ask you overt racists to put your hate aside for a moment, but without it, what would you be? It's a terrifying thought to consider what might be festering under all that hate. So you go right on doing what you do. Jigsaw makes it easy for you with his "beast" routine, so you shouldn't have to tire yourselves out thinking of new materiel.) What do we see if we do this? The clear fact that the only thing about the whole "Jigsaw is a jerk!" issue that even really matters on a competitive level is the fact that it 1: Didn't do wht Jigsaw hoped it would. Obviously I don'st know this, but my theory is that Jigsaw, knowing that Rebel has a style that is fun to watch and that makes it appear as if he's having just as much fun himself. He's chill, he's not a rigid "all moves" dancer with every instant linked by iron choreography to the previous moment. He really seems like he's... dancing. Like, for fun. Seems like he would be a fun guy to hit the town with. So, how do you play his likability to your advantage if you're Jigsaw? Come off as rougher, angrier, perhaps even the villain of the little story we all make up in our heads as we watch two men we don't know at all engage in competitive dancing. People sometimes cheer for a villain, even come to see him as a sort of dark, complicated hero, more compelling than the regular-seeming guy they are facing. If he's more passionate, more powerful, more a force of nature than the affable stoner Rebel comes off as, Jigsaw can capture the support of the judges and the audience by being all-around bigger, larger, more interesting. Add that to his superior physical mastery of his body (his fine-motor control and explosive athleticism make Rebel look out of shape and out of practice - things he most certainly is not) and what I can only call his virtuosity - because it's a strong word, and I don't have a better word for what he does at his best instants. Instants when he seems to make reality -skip- like a damaged recording and somehow it feels like we missed a frame or two. Even though we were looking right at him. Even though this isn't missing any frames, and for the people watching live (and you can see it works on them as well by their sudden unanimous roar of shock and delight) it isn't even a recording. All that with none of Rebel's dance-y interludes which, while full of join de vivre, were technically unimpressive? That's a win. But Jigsaw didn't do that. Oh, he made it clear who was the more talented in the first ten seconds with a time-slowing, strobe-light stutter of drops and catches that make it seem as though his jacket is slipping out of his hands, but falling through water instead of air. Not content with that piece of skill and beauty, he ands the jacket sequence with a desperate, arm-blurring explosion of hand-over-hand attempts to cling to the jacket as it somehow, impossibly, manages to elude his grasp. Just showmanship? No, art. A sense of loss, inevitable as gravity, but a loss railed against by muscle, passion, and all the efforts of man. He's writing poetry as he works. And then he gives in to his instinct to play the villain (or he really is a dick. Or, as some of his supporters have been saying - unaware that they're missing the point by saying "he's used to the battle culture and hip-hop culture of the U.S.A!" when they should be saying "so what if he's rude? He won.' - he comes from a different sort of scene where fucking with one's opponent is acceptable or expected.) Or he's a nice guy under stress at home and he loses his temper.) Or who knows. And equally, who cares? The result is the same. He alienates at least a portion of the fans (though many present never stopped cheering him) by coming off as a bullly. As temperamental and easily flustered. And worse, so much worse, he stops focusing on dancing, on performing, and starts focusing on Rebel. Then we all follow his lead and rebel has the floor even though Jigsaw is the man in the ring. And Rebel doesn't get flustered. He shakes it off like a patient, more mature older sibling. We all see this and like him more. Meanwhile, Jigsaw is wasting seconds, tens of seconds, maybe half a minute, trying to either really piss off Rebel, or trying to play the part of the angry and passionate but dark anti-hero. Or just biting his cheek in rage because he has the mindset of a child. Like I keep saying, I don't know. But I do know that he wastes time that would be better spent showing what he can do. In my opinion it was his weakest moment. It's like he grabbed onto that shirt and didn't want to let go until... well, until something, but it's unclear what because he forgets to dance or drop moves the whole time he's clinging to Rebel's Shirt. He just tangles and twists at the bottom hem of Rebel's shirt. It gets uncomfortable. I bet his friends still don't talk about it when he's around because it's too awkward. Without that moment, it's awkwardness, it's wasted time, it's seeming pointlessness (not salvaged by Jigsaw's mum show of pretending to eat the heart he tore out of Rebel...which is fine, it's part of the storytelling, and in boastful hip-hop tradition. But it's not even really done as part of a dance. Because he isn't really dancing anymore when he does it. He's running out the clock. He knew he had to do something but deciding what stopped his feet, and his momentum, cold.)... as I was saying before I started a parenthetical rant, if it wasn't for that moment, he would have walked away the clear winner. I still think he won, but I haven't been watching battles as long as many of you, so I don't know. I just thought it was worthwhile pointing out what happened, for real, between two strong competitors. Instead of saying "Black man mean I like other guy other guy win for sure!" But who am I kidding. I'm writing insomnia-fueled essays for youtube commenters who won't read them anyway. As my girlfriend sleeps alone in our bed, and I get more and more exhausted but also more wired. No one with a shred of sense acts like this. So maybe you're all correct, and we should leave the analysis of amazing performances by gifted artists in the capable hands of the youtube commentariat, instead of tilting at the windmill that is any hope of rational, argument-supported discourse here.

You sound like a caffeine-infused grad student who loves the sound of his own voice. Race has nothing to do with this, almost everybody in the video is black including the two dancers. Rebel is the cleaner, more fluid and technical dancer. He was more connected to the music and therefore he won the battle . The fact that jigsaw was being a disrespectful dick would be secondary, except most people are speculating he was being a disrespectful dick to distract from the fact that he's battling a more talented dancer. The end. I don't agree with what you said, but I admire the way you said it!
