I've found with mine that the first pint is always very frothy. However from reading various forums the advice is to rinse the glass with cold water before pouring and mine has been great!!

Yes. Good point. In a Dutch or German bar, the beer is always poured into a wet glass. However, that foam is absolutely essential for a correctly poured pilsner. The technique is almost the total opposite of what we do for great tasting traditional English ales. I guess that's why people are getting confused and mistakenly see the foam as bad. Foaming is essential, and the total pour should take SEVEN MINUTES, never less!

I always find the first pint in a new torpedo is all froth because of the gas, after the first pint it runs smoothly, you will love it I come home from a hard days graft, pint of cool iced beer waiting. Had mine for about 2 years and love it, does take a few try’s to pour it right but quickly get the hang of it. They do a good deal we’re you buy 8 torps and get free delivery, for what I choose a little mix of blondes, wheats, lagers it usually works out about 60 quid for 28 litres of freshly poured beer. Delicious.

I'm slightly old fashioned si, I like mine cold out the fridge straight in to a glass at a 45° angle, little bit of smoke on the opening with plenty of carbonation to push the flavours around the mouth, the machine is a nice idea for Christmas when you have the family over but I couldn't have it sitting on the bench all year, the mrs would throttle me.

Very impressed with this machine and contrary to your comment, most of the beers cost just over £8 per torp. Theres only a few of the specialist torps amount to over £16. So at £2 per pint, I'd say thats pretty cheap overall. A great addition to my home with summer coming along any time now, I can enjoy a lovely cold draught pint in my back garden. The best advice is to keep spare torps in your fridge, so they can go into the machine pretty close to the required temperature.

I have had one for some time now and although I love it, there are some issues. When it is hot in July and August the sub cannot keep the beer cooled to the right temp. The red light is always on.

This is the only way I can get Orchard Thieves cider in the US, and I’m a lightweight, so totally worth it for me. Got the SUB on eBay for about $50, brand new! Now off to order the cider. 😁 Haven’t had it since 2017 on a trip across the pond!

Hi Simon I’ve had my Sub for just over two years and they are pretty good but the majority of the standard torps are lagers. There is a couple of ciders with Strongbow and Strongbow dark fruits as well as Newcastle brown ale. The craft trops where it gets exciting ! The craft torps are expensive (£14.99 upwards) but they are unpasteurised beers that are really small batch produced and also have delirium Tremens and La Chouffe. These craft torps seem to rotate quite often and sell out fast. Beerwulf have just launched a couple of Brixton brewery craft beers as well as a St Feuillien Cruvee de Noel which should be great. I wouldn’t believe the whole Punk IPA hype coming on torp too much as this rumour has been going round for the last 10 months since Beerwulf took over the retail side of the Sub from Heineken but up to now nothing as happened with Brewdog at all. I also own two Philips PD systems and have the say the beer selection on the PD is better than the Sub due to the variety of styles compared to the Sub that is mainly lager. Due to this I tend to use my PD systems more. The Sub is great though especially in the summer for lager and Cider (the PD doesn’t do Ciders at all) and for the craft torps. Alright fella! I’ve had the sub for 2 years! The torps do need to settle! Took me a while to pour a good pint, took lots ov goes! Best tip for you is wen your pouring it at the correct angle, let the tap end touch the glass n keep it on there while filling n turning! Honest! I’ve poured 100s ov pints with mine! Swill glass with cold water first helps too

I’ve had one of these for a couple of years now , I bought the Heineken special edition version, it’s a good quality machine, however, I will say that I’ve learnt to stop pouring when the noise starts , and carry on pouring when it stops it seems to make pouring a pint much more decent. Also you mention to not re-use the pipe... well.. you can’t even if you tried because once you pop that pipe into the torp it’s stuck there until you throw it away. Overall I have enjoyed the machine but it is a bit of a pain at times because two litres doesn’t last long at all haha 👍🏻 🍺

I have just been to LIDL Perlenbnbacher, greeen bottles, 330 ml bottles tastes the sanm as SteinHausser! It is gorgeeous. Hoppy back taste beyond belief!

I've had mine for about a year, only buy the torps when they are on offer though but you will never want to drink canned beer again well that was the case for me. The beer tastes really good as you say because it isn't the UK brewed junk it is from source. Try the Pelforth Blonde, Cruzcampo or Moretti next they are really tasty which is not something you can always say about Lagers. The Newcastle Brown is surprisingly good too believe it or not. I've just tried the wheat beers Wieckse and Edelweiss on this which are pretty good but I would still say something like Patronus is better but still tasty stuff. As a pouring tip let about 2cm of foam out into a glass slowly and discard. Then pull the handle down in one quick motion with the nozzle touching the side of the glass at 45 degrees and it should pour perfect.

I bought it 4 months ago and really love it. (Heineken Edition) Well...beer is not cheap....but quality is great....i always 1. wash the glasses after dishwasher (to remove any detergents) and then 2. precool the glasses in the freezer. Beer foam is fantastic....prefer Heineken, Amstel and belgian Klosterbeer "Affligem" 6.8%. Others are too expansive in my opinion. What i really like: exact temperature possibility just to drink half a glass in between or one glass for dinner....not necessary to open a bottle long lasting (14 to 30 days) 🥰very fresh taste like in a really good running bar!!🥰 low noise of machine no big cleaning (nearly nothing except Glass base) process because you change the beer filled tubes with every sub I would not recommend it for big groups....too small/2 Liters and too expansive then. But for private use it is great. Always precool 1 sub in the fridge in the lowest tray...otherwise machine needs hours to cool down. With precvoled subs and machine you can use it right away within minutes. I need around one sub a week and it is for me kind of luxury in life. If you buy 8 at once (bearwulf) it s free of delivery costs....

Just stick all your torps in the fridge and when u need to swap them they are ready to go...it pours a perfect pint if you know how to use it...let it scoosh out a drop of froth before putting a wet glass under at 45 angle and fill it....only down side tall pint glasses like the heineken dont fit under so lift the sub up a bit on something....bonné sante

Seen a comment somewhere to prevent the foam . Put it in the fridge until the sticker goes blue , pop it into the machine and leave it to settle for a good few hours . It works great , and no need to get the flake out lol

I love the cold froth. Leave it a minute and watch the head settle. Its an art form. Better than any van gogh painting. People keep worrying about the large head on it. Just let it settle and then drink it. Then pour some more, and repeat😜

I'm a qualified cellarman. The problem you are having with the froth is just because the 'barrel' has not settled and to be honest with something so small you'll always have a few glasses of froth before you get anything servable. Even when you use professional grade equipment like you get in a pub, you'll always have a bit of froth on a new barrel. The only other issue I've noticed with this machine (which is great for the casual drinker) is the 'barrels' need to be very cold before serving (this will also help eliminate the froth issue). Forget what the instructions tell you. Get the sub down to as cold as you can without freezing it. The last issue is the 2L limit. It's way too small. They advertise it as great for parties, but I don't know anyone that would serve four pints (three with wastage) and then be happy to change the sub over and over again. The really good thing is the variety of drinks available. Although I've always noticed there seems to be supply issues with some brands.

tip is to give it abit if time to settle in the sub and move it as less as possible when putting it in the sub . then run off half a pint of foam and set to the side.. get a fresh glass i find the moretii bulb shaped glasses work best but . put it as close to the tap as possible on an angle and pull the tap down in one quick movement and u shout pull a nice pint

I fancy one of these as they are on sale. However, I`ve watched all the review videos and everyone seems to struggle with the foam and never being able to pour the perfect pint. Is this the case or is it practice. Seems a bit pour for something quite pricey for just beer.

2 liters is 3.5 IMPERIAL pints(4 pints U.S )and with a torpe costing £15 for the cheapest one thats £4.28 a pint. at that price, I'd rather drink down the pub or get a few bottles in the fridge. cannot see many being sold, and if they don't sell machines in large enough quantities the torpes will get increasing fewer in availability and variety. my guess is 2-3 years tops for this dispenser.

Kegs have to be cooled in the fridge overnight,,, the longer the better. I put mine in the freezer for an hour or two which they suggest you don't do but just keep your eye on them switching from fridge to freezer every now and then only if you want to speed up the process. Also I found you get a better pour if you use a smaller glass like half pint.

Beer wolf is the only place you can buy these. They have you over a barrel with the delivery charges. Works out at about £4 a pint! I bought the machine on a deal for about £39, regretting the purchase. Hoping the Torps are in supermarkets soon.

Magic For new torps leave overnight in the fridge. Then place in machine and wait for green light. Grab your glass, rinse under cold water, then pour 1-2cm of beer and chuck away (drink it preferably!). Then pour again (pull down handle quickly) at 45 degree angle , glass touching spout. Reduce angle as glass nears full. If pump comes on while filling glass, stop and wait, then continue. Enjoy! Also what glass are you using?
