. Horse is an important draught animal which plays an important role in the socio-economical life of human population. It has also been playing several important roles in promotion and wellbeing of human life. The additional utility is for sports (polo), racing industry (thoroughbreds), traditional ceremonies such as wedding and festival and for defense purpose like patrolling by army and mountain police. Horse keeping is a status symbol of rich people and being used for joy riding. In india total 7 breed of horses are registed, out of them, two breed Kathiawari and Sindhi are origin in Gujarat. Kathiawari horses are well built, strong leg, beautiful and extremely loyal to their owner e.g. maharana pratap’s horse Chetak. As per utility of horse, horses are suffering mainly infectious and noninfectious diseases. Noninfectious diseases are including colic, laminitis, muscle sprain, arthritis, bone spavin, bog spain, fracture and deficiency disorders but colic is most important killer diseases in horses. The most important cause of colic is parasitic infestation, dehydration, spoiled feeding, and lack of exercise. Colic is mostly seen in summer season. Horse owner take care about for it horse might be better for prevention. For minimized noninfectious disorders, the regular deworming, ad lib water, gradually change in feeding schedule and good quality of feed, regular exercise, maintain grain amount in diets with salt and appetizer mixture. Horses are susceptible to a variety of infectious diseases. Infectious diseases spread through common feeding and watering utensils and tick vectors.
Chances of spread of infectious as well as vector born diseases are between contact of affected and healthy horses. Infectious diseases are cause by virus, bacteria, fungus and protozoa including strangle, tetanus, glander, botulism, salmonellosis,piroplasmosis, trypanosomiasis, rabies, equine influenza and herpes virus, equine infectious anaemia and equine vial encephalomyelitis. But several infectious diseases are cause major threats in terms of morbidity and mortality. Nowadays, several infectious diseases are prevented by vaccination like tetanus, equine influenza, rabies and equine herpes virus.
