i think the teams get assigned cards and the spymaster gives hints to the cards. like if a red card is cowboy then the red spymaster puts like horse so that the team guesses cowboy.

25 words in total, some belong to red team, some belong to blue team, some are neutral (they end your turn) one can be a black card (you lose immediately). your guesses relate to how many team members you have, so smiity's team has 2 guesses, john's has 3. spymasters for each team view the whole board, they know what color each card is and have to give their team a one word hint. it can relate to one word or two. for example, if gallop and leather were both red cards, the red spymaster could say "horse (2)." the goal is for one team to guess all their correct cards hope that helps!!
