just listening to Sodajerker pod cast interview with Nik where he refers to this tape. it wasn't a demo as such but his way of remembering his ideas until he got access to a portable studio and could get the track down proper... worth a listen

8:22 "Good or bad like it or not it's the only one we've got" - I like this part even more then the original. Thanks for this rare material! Put here everything else what you have on those tapes with Nik, please.

The sodajerker interview indicates this was recorded onto a pretty basic compact cassette player as verbal note taking. Not a portastudio as such this is likely as good as it gets on the quality. This is a first piece together for when he got to a portastudio or studio.

The Bee Gees are also great for inspiration if you make your own music... The way they change key + time signature all over the place! Must be hard for the drummer... Guilty is in 4/4 with a 5/4 bar....and a 3/4 bar.... Erasure also! "Always"...has a 5/4 bar....one extra beat at the end of the chorus...which is odd but great.... I'm writing some music myself and I'm actually using plenty key changes + time sig variations... You can still sound modern and fresh without doing a 4-bar loop

bloody amazing find! :-) I'm proper into some of his early stuff these days! The chord changes + melodies are crazy....he changes key so many times.... By keeping the chords + bass + melodies strong - he gets a lot of mileage out of his arrangements... Stock, Aitken & Waterman have some crazy songs too...although most are ripped off versions of Italian euro disco / hi-nrg classics....even down to the precise melodies and counterpoint stuff....
