I am profoundly grateful to Slater & Kryz for their relief operations in Cebu in response to typhoon Odette! Thank you so much for everything you both are doing! It is also amazing to see how the 1% spend their holidays (the rich folks who lives in Beverly hills, Maria Luisa, & other rich subdivisions in the mountains of Cebu). I grew up in Mandaue city, amidst so much poverty and came to the US a long time ago to pursue my dreams and seek a better life. I'm sorry to say, seeing the Help scoop for money into a bowl is a little too much. I'm aware that a lot of filipino games have money as reward. As a kid, I climbed a greased bamboo pole to get money tied to the top. The huge chasm of the rich & the poor in the Philippines is a trauma & a pain in my heart and though on the other side, it still hurts, probably forever.

@@kryzzzie Thank you Kryz for your reply! On one hand, the game was fun, the helpers selected it, it’s well intentioned so all good, lets move on. But on the other hand the game means something else to me that I personally struggle with. Pls accept my apologies for what I am about to say and I’m also going to use “I” statements. I believe that the game when deconstructed shows a relationship of the Master (the person who supplied the pile of cash on the floor) & the Servants (the people who needs the money). For the master, money is not an issue, it can be replenished easily. For the servants, getting more money means a lot - its getting economic security or a matter of life & death, ex. money for a sick elderly parent, sending financial aid back to the family in the province who are dire straits, etc. It is the relationship of the people who have wealth and the people who have less, BUT the game is rigged. It is almost impossible to win and get some cash. This is the capitalist model. The game mirrors the reality of the average poor filipino - who strives & works so hard but can never get enough income to sustain himself/herself & the family - due to low wages, bills & expenses, rent, taking care of several kids plus elderly parents, etc. The game at its core ask the question - what is the value of human life? My answer is human life is very precious & beyond any price. Having lived in the Philippines for the 1st 24 years of my life, life there is cheap, I am very sad to say, in the midst of so much poverty. The number #1 asset of the Philippines is cheap labor and the #1 export is people. I am an example of that export. My elder sister as well who is a doctor, and me in high tech. We live in the US and contribute to the betterment of this country, and not our native country, as well the hundreds of thousands of filipinos who have left the Philippines. What we can do from our end is send financial aid to the family we have there and to organizations who are helping with typhoon relief operations. Again I want to say how thankful I am for the relief work you & Slater are doing to help fellow Cebuanos who are struggling. Thank you so much & a happy new year 2022!
