One of my most poignant memories has to be singing this in the shower stall the first time I was in the mental hospital. I couldn’t remember all the words so I just repeated the chorus too many times. And I remember looking at the soap and shampoo in the little paper cups and looking at the hair on the wall to the right of me and looking at the tiles on the floor searching for the verse I forgot and maybe something else. I guess it must’ve been washed away though. Anyways I think that moment will stay in my mind forever. I don’t know

this might be CSH's saddest song...unlike the other candidates (anchorite, the staying song, fiction I) it completely lacks a cathartic element and little hope of redemption
@natasalways3 жыл бұрын
facts. anchorite definitely might be more sad for the first half, that shit never ceases to make me cry. but the end with the screaming and ‘fuck you’ notion at least adds some self respect and hope beyond that person.

@@natasalways i know i'm not the one you're asking this to, but to me, i think some strange angel is about losing your partner from death, and wanting so desperately to either meet them again or just to have their feeling and presence around you again "I don't feel the fear anymore Carry me through your door" the fear of death has completely crumbled, it's an acceptance that death is real, and the narrator wants so desperately to be reunited that death isn't scary to them anymore "And I’m lost just thinking about it In the clouds, some strange angel’s porch Lost just thinking about you In your arms, what I love you for" just lost in thought, thinking about what awaits them, comforting each other on some angel's porch (heaven likely), just being there with one another, even in death the whole song just has this feeling of sorrowful loss, but a hopeful acknowledgement that, in the future, they'd reunite again, it guts me every time

i was just sitting there, making a shitty comic about everything that happened and then this autoplayed. almost two years ago now this song was very special to me. now it's strange and a bit painful. i still know the lyrics and sing along without thinking. it's almost hard to wrap my head around the fact that we were friends once. i wonder if he misses the way i sang it to him. eh. life goes on i suppose.

Listening to this song reminds me of when I applied for a whole prestigious scholarship to go to Germany to meet a guy I thought I had something with (I’m from California, USA) … the guy did not have the same feelings and it was miserable for a lot of that winter , but hey … I’m a Fulbright alumni now so it wasn’t for anything 😅 it is such a sad song though and the melancholy of being in that situation is very obvious in this song 🥺how does Will/CSH always manage to be so unexpectedly relatable?!
