Shanon I had a fear of needles from the time I was little, and would even pass out. When my mom was going thru chemo and had a port, I had to give her the shots 2× a day. I got over it really quickly. The longer you have your farm you will get used to doing things that you never thought you could. Just be positive.

Harry is so adorable. He looks so soft & fluffy. I love his colors. "159' bales, I was WAY OFF!! Very nice of the church to give all that staw to ya'll. It runs about 3.50 - 6.00 a bale. Yeah, seeing Harry eating & drinking like that, is a BLESSING!! Whew, that was a close call with Harry!! Thank you, God Love you, Kiddo's

It’s so nice when people donate straw or lower quality/older hay bales to churches for fall activities & then the church makes sure to find others who have a use for it. Even better when people like Kyle & Shannon take the straw & then go even further to share the blessing with others.❤ At my old church we used to have a large fall festival for the community which included a horse drawn hayride. After the festival we would give bales & even bags of the loose straw for people to use for animal bedding or to help insulate around outdoor faucets, pipes & around/over plants. The youth group & young adults would go to the homes of elderly or disabled community members to put straw or pine straw(pine tree needles)over plant beds & to insulate faucets/pipes when ever we began having cold weather. We live in the extreme southern US less than 70 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico. So most winters we don’t have much extremely cold temps. BUT due to how high the humidity level stays here even in winter it makes it feel far colder bc it’s such a damp cold that soaks straight through your clothing…especially if there is *any* wind. Even in the 40s if the humidity is high, it’s cloudy & there is any wind…it can feel as if it’s at or below freezing. Tonight is actually the first time this fall/winter the actual temp is dropping to freezing(30F) but the “feels like” temp is actually in the mid 20s due to humidity & the 5-10mph north wind. Of course these first days of lower temps have also felt *FAR* colder due to the fact we went from months of such insanely high temps & heat indexes to temps suddenly being in the 70s & below. Quite a shock to the system!

That was awesome about the straw. Shanon, I can relate to how you are with the animals. I do the same thing. It's like twins can almost feel what the other twin is feeling. It breaks my heart when they look at you when you scolded them. Or when you watch a KZbin video of a dog that was abandoned. Not understanding what they did wrong to make their human stop loving them. 😢 Just thinking about this makes me want to cry. Anyways on a happier note, that straw will really help your dad and brother. If your like me sharing the straw will give you a lot of pleasure. Just knowing there will be warm animals this winter because of your generosity. Very proud of both of you. So happy that Harry is doing better. I have been worried. He's a little sweetheart.

What about the microchip food bowls for Herc? They only open for animals that the microchip numbers thats programmed in by you, are picked up by? And close when they walk away? Might be an option to keep the goats out. Also not sure if you guys are aware (if youve watched any of cog hill you may be especially) but neutered males need a specific goat food because they're predisposed to basically kidney/bladder stones. So normal goat food gives higher chances of them suffering from stones and causing blockages. May be something to consider in anyway you move forward if not aware of it already. LOVE your straw haul!!! ❤awesome. Next will be a barn build for straw 😂 to keep it from spoiling lol.

So glad Harry is doing better! All your farms are in good hands! One thing that goats might do in the fall is gorge on oak leaves or acorns. If they do that, it's not so good for them. Not to add to your concerns, but I searched for "trees that are toxic for goats" and there was quite a list. Just hoping whatever measures you take will have the best outcomes! Oh - and in many rural areas, straw is used to block wind around mobile homes. Glad you have a bunch of it! Big prayers for Harry and Batman and allll the others! Pick the area that you want your vegetables garden cover the ground about 8 inches thick with straw then till in when ready to plant..less weeds help hold water in soil.
