7 years ago, I was very “anti Christian”. I couldn’t find my favorite book and so I borrowed “no compromise” from my step daughters book shelf. I criticized the whole book, pretty much, up until the last few chapters. A day after I finished the book, the veil was lifted, He saved me. I believe a huge part of that was Melody’s response to losing her husband and children. It helped me understand Gods compassion in the midst of suffering. This book holds a special place in my heart.

I discovered his music in high school. He had already died, but I bought all of his tapes and would take the dog for a walk with my Walkman. Keith’s music would help me pour out my heart to God in joy and in prayer. Some of the happiest moments of my young life.

When I was a young Christian, it was through music that I could communicate to God how I felt. It was very hard for me somehow to talk/pray to God so many times I'd drive off in my VW somewhere to be alone, put in a cassette and let that person's song and their message speak for me, I could feel my eyes well up with tears because it was my way of being close to the Lord and expressing myself. My own quiet time, just me and God and the help of Keith Green. I'd also listen to Benny Hester, Resurrection Band, 2nd Chapter of Acts, Matthew Ward, Phil Keaggy...many others...music and I always clicked...thankful that those who made it found Jesus and hope someone hearing one of their songs will be touched enough by God to give their life to Him too.

34 years after his death, STILL the best. We have many gifted, anointed music ministers today and over the years, but, in my opinion, Keith Green stands alone in a class of his own. It's not a competition to see who's number 1 etc, but he really was, is, the only musician who can cut through the excuses we have, to the core of the matter - serving the Lord with all our hearts, minds and souls in a way NOONE ELSE comes close to. Looking around today at the ministers and musicians purporting to speak on behalf of the Lord, it is like a wasteland. So much trash talking. I am forced to go back to the one person who spoke truth, sang with uncompromising power what Christians needed to hear. To be convicted over sin. To grieve over what sin does to us and our relationship with the Lord. To be burdened over the fate of the lost and to seek to obey the Great Commission. To call sinners to account, to repent and to restore our lives back to the Lord. We need leaders like this today in the church, but they are nowhere to be seen unfortunately. "If the church was doing its job" today, we wouldn't see so much of the problems we see around. That's not hating on the church! But if the church really is NOT doing its job, who then will speak up?? Noone that I know of is challenging the hypocrisy so rampant today in any effective way like he did. Those of you here who have criticised him. Unless you have experienced a genuine conversion experience, you will have no idea what KG's ministry was all about. It is truly indicative of the dire levels of apostasy in the world today that people could come on here and spout such naive rubbish about his music and who he was. The ignorance and immaturity shown in the comments should not be surprising. The tares and the wheat must co-exist until harvest time. For someone to intimate he had anger and control issues. That's a demon speaking to you resisting the message of truth and grace apparent to the true sheep. The person who was like a troll Dana W, demon again. Who else do you think would twist something pure and holy and truthful into something ugly like, oh that's just idol worshipping? If you can't handle his message, then there's something not quite right with the state of your walk with God, if indeed you even have one! I do know that when I think of KG, he was the ONE gospel musician who gave his music away for free, or took WHATEVER people had to contribute. Look around today for any such example. Nada. Zip. You won't find anyone doing that. He took in the homeless and fed many people. Let's all be BANANAS FOR JESUS!

Good job Agatha.. You have the grace and divine enablement to defend the servants of God. Some people just derive pleasure in despising and condemning the servants of God. They should read the Bible thoroughly first before drawing any conclusion.

I don’t disagree with your remarks, but one point I would make: Keith Green did his best to take any emphasis off of himself and place it on Jesus. Now that’s a true servant’s heart and the mark of the genuine article.

One thing is notifiable and noble is "You put this love in my heart" is then revealed to this world, Keith was all about going from the milk to the meat, he saw a world full of babies and only a small amount who hungered for the meat, that's the heart of our energy source, it is where our ego draws energy to respond react and interact, when its to Gods glory and the encouraging ego that is "not about me anymore, its about You God, and its about you my neighbor, that's a completely different type of human, one that has forsaken the old and actually hungry for all that is new. This is not a select group, this is all are chosen but few choose. He was an example of forsaking the wide easy road and pursued the narrow way, therefore he could glorify God, and turn his attention, and the attention of those listening to what the Spirit of God was doing "Rushing wind blow through this temple" the hard to chew, hard to swallow meat! It really comes down to what we choose to believe, what we believe is 100% influenced by the intervention of the Savior of our souls. It only takes one person to believe, that spending time with the Father of us all (the part of getting to know God) is life changing!! (we love others because God is love, and everyone that is born of God,....knows God) That LOVE is laying down ones own (OLD) life for others so they actually get to see the new, interaction, knowing and believing out of ones new life, as a light, a testimony to others He came, He died, He rose, He is seated at the right hand of the Father, and His ministry is effective throughout the whole earth not bound to one region as a man! Just as the Savor of our souls did, so did Keith, and so can we, die to the old, rise to the new, and be found seated in the Fathers perfect rest, resting from our old-man futile works, and displaying the new works, the refined, love that is not founded in human works, ego toil (hidden in darkness) but love that is pure, love that is perfect and nothing less, than the coals of Gods furnace, its all encompasses the new "here I am send me" it is the key revelation of who God is, made known with you and me, as servants. Why? because God is with us to experience with us, love, because there is no one above God, therefore God being perfect and pure love, loves the loveless, and never having parents, loves the fatherless, never being widowed loves the widows (God empathy) never experienced defeat, love your enemies, God chose to be and to be with the least of the least, the haters, the arrogant and rude, murderers, so that He may present and prepare them for His masterpieces "created for good works in Christ" lowly, meek, and humble...... I can go on, but for all who are called take it upon yourself to choose the narrow way, and begin to chow down that meat, the new actually needs energy food to interact, respond, grow, display the fruits, "walk and talk with my Jesus..."

People WANT to buy what she is offering, she can't compile all these materials without cost. What better living to make than one that has always given you joy. The love of God, the love of Keith Green, the music they shared, some of the songs they wrote together, the love! Some of you want to make it ugly by saying she's profiting from a dead man, she's not, she's earning a living by continuing to share her love of God and also, she keeps Keith's memory and message alive for others.

I think being convicted like that (as I am) is a sign of a heart listening for the Holy Spirit to speak God's instructions. We are to be always listening, searching for His will. I pray to be listening so well that His slightest whisper has my attention, His slightest direction has my feet moving. We are human, we have a sin nature, we will fail. But we keep asking forgiveness and moving on. He knows our hearts better than we do, He knows where we are on our individual journey

I was only a year old when he died, they had a tribute concert here at the time, and even though I was only a year old his music, his wife's voice, and the three crosses still echo in my mind. I grew up with his music, later on in life I traveled with Teen Mania to China little did I know that at the compound in TX. I was standing where Keith once stood. His life helped build, and shape mine. Keith's Music still hits home when I am lost. He and Christ filled the whole my father left behind.

So what if he had "anger issues" or some problem? He was only a christian for a few years. Melody herself admits in his biography that he didn't have as much time as most christians to hone down his personality down to perfection. But he did as much in his short life as he could - he preached a whole message and challenged us to live wholehearted for the Lord. He did more &matured more and in a few years than many christians with time. Perfection is not a criterion for Lord but the heart is.

@@kalmandittrich3846 Be silent you snake? Your tone indicates your attitude comes not from God. Hah, was I surprised after so many years of calm and appreciation and peace by your sudden comment. First of all, I know of my communion with the Lord and I don't obey you. Second, it is not possible to be perfect on this earth. Perfection is a goal to strive for, not an achievement. Now comes the part your ego is not ready to hear, because it will affect your attitude: I John 1:10 says, "If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.". And also Revelation 5:4 says: "And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.". And also the apostle Paul said, "Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.". I'd love to see you in from of Paul giving your teaching and your rebuttal. Now it is possible that you did not understand what was written in the comment, or was quick to come to conclusion - something quite unacceptable on someone of such superior intellect and holiness, isn't it? Keith Green did not propose a watered down gospel. If you read his books, which apparently you haven't carefully, you'll see it was quite the opposite. He never emphasized a watered down gospel, so much so that actually he got a lot of people angry with him. Now I'm sure deep inside if we come to introspect it, you're more like an angry whitewashed cantankerous churchead. And possibly fall more behind the holiness than the average. So before you write HOLY with all uppercase letter again, take a look at your ability to read what's written. Take a look at your ability to understand what's being written. Take a loot at your ability to inform yourself of someone's biography before sending rants. And take a look your attitude. I'm sure you'll find a lot to work on before you understand and exhibit the beauty of true holiness.

@@cesargil5997 You sound cozy and secure. I do not rebuke you. I was harsh and I apologize. But, Be ye perfect is the heart of the Gospel. Love for the world cannot be, Not how i see it. I am not perfect yet sir, But, i do belief in the concept And the reality of it. All churches are compromised, those corner ones, the very most. I say, lets be perfect. God made you upright. I dont doubt your devotion Or worth or value, I merely protest your take that a little sin is okay, Its lies from satan Sin and ye will die. Be ye reborn and strive for perfection. Do this without the cop out, defeatest nonsense Christianity you propose. Repent means just that.

Keith's music has been so powerful for me since my teenage years, I passed it on to my own, now adolescent/adult children as they were growing up. His passion for the Lord and souls (even Christians), his message, the (sometimes hard-hitting) biblical truths he preached, have been a crucial factor in their walk with the Lord, their growing up to serve God and I'm determined, with them, to 'brainwash' 😬😁 my grandchildren. (tongue in cheek. I don't want the pop scene to brainwash them). What a legacy Keith left us and the Kingdom!! Thank you Lord, thank you Keith and thank you Melody!! ❤

The first time I heart his prodigal son song and the piano prelude, I got stunned every day for almost 40 years after learning first about his albums in 1987 no one day has come and gone without I have not listened to the prodigal son. I also feel compelled to say something. Are some of you who made the most disparaging comments actually Christians? 1)There is a good deal of gossip flying about by you who repeat talk of Keith's "anger" and "control" issues. Even if Keith *was* calling others and apologizing, he was actively repenting. If God forgives the sin of one who repents, God remembers the sin no more. 2)It does NOT say, anywhere in the Bible, that God guarantees an easy and/or long life to those who are faithful to Him. We share in His suffering in order to be able to share in His glory when it is revealed. He takes those home early in His mercy to prevent further suffering. 3)They had a ranch and an airplane to use in their ministry. Why would you NOT want God to give them, and by extension, the people they allowed to move in for free, a ranch and an airplane? Do you have the knowledge to tell God He shouldn't be blessing Keith and Melody? 4)Melody being greedy and making money off Keith's coattails? Melody was his wife, the helpmeet who helped Keith be the great man of God he was. She bore his children. Even in a court of law, she is entitled to Keith's property. 5)Her "dog and pony show," "just to make money," is funding the work Keith and she accomplished, which God still uses to touch lives for Jesus. Why are you so bent out of shape about Melody continuing to run a ministry funded by advertising? I was there back in the day, knew friends of Keith and Melody. I received free music from Keith, and from Melody - they were so obviously both on the same page about how God wanted their ministry run - which was essential to my relationship with God, and growing in the knowledge of Him; I was the single mother of four, married to a man who stopped providing for his children. That tape ministered to me more than all my fellow Christians put together, sad to say. You should be ashamed! I also received the Newsletter. God used what was written in it to bring about the greatest healing of my life, which He is still working on over 30 years later, I was so deeply wounded. You *should* be ashamed, but you're not. That just shows the message on Keith's heart was more desperately necessary than even he knew.

I would have to say, if it wasn't for the loving & giving heart of Keith Green, I probably would not have become a believer and remained "the course" even through today. I led my brother to the Lord and he and I have led nearly 25 members of our extended family to Christ. I even have two boys who have become full-time ministers of the Gospel of Christ. (Keith would be proud) I have studied under many significant ministries, leaders, preachers, churches, in several denominations, but, sad to say, I have had to renounce many their influences from my life for many of them have fallen away from Christ Himself and His solid and simple teachings. Keith Green was that prophet that had caused myself and many to be single-focused in my walk with Christ and to seek to be planted in quality soil in order to produce fruit.

weather it is strange or not, I have always mourned his death, not because of where he went, but because this world lost a great man, he reflects Christ so well even with his mistakes, that I saw him as being apart of God, and God as apart of him. I could not tell where either one began, and the other ended. He is my Hero, He is still the man I look up to above all others. I look up to Christ for what he did for me, but Keith was a Sinner who showed me a path we could take with out being God.

As much as I admired and like Keith Green and most of his songs, there was a streak of holier-than-thou in a few numbers that sent me reeling when i failed God. Someone mentioned that his book challenged us to great commitment to evangelism and missions and holiness, but failed to deliver the empathy that Christ wanted us to have one for another when we failed. Reluctantly, i have to agree with that assessment with qualification. Thanks for letting me share.

The man who gave away his music for free? The man who opened his home to anybody who needed a bed or a word? The man who cried when the audience applauded him rather than God? That is not commercialism my friend, that is frustration w/ a pasteurized church that was looking to him as an idol rather than the God he served. I just cannot believe this thread & the negativity that is being spewed toward a man (& woman) that God used & continues to use in such a mighty way. Unbelievable.

If Keith were still alive today I am sure he would be angrier than ever, or so deeply saddened by what we have become he may take to his closet & beg for our souls. Who on earth are any of the people in this thread or any other to judge a man? Particularly one who is not here to defend himself? Casting stones is a mighty heady thing & one Jesus warns against. The man’s words were timely, hard & honest.

Melody did remarry about 15 or so years ago. Unfortunately, the marriage ended after a couple of years. I never was able to find out exactly why, but it seems that there was a lot of drama involved. That's about all that I know. I don't judge or condemn her. She may have been completely in the right. There were no children from this union. They were both, obviously older at the time (she was about 10-12 years older that Keith, and he died in 82', which would put her at somewhere around 72'ish now.) She's been through much that could have embittered her, but she seems to have handled it all in a godly manner.

Keith spoke from his heart & struggled like each of us, with pride, anger, guilt, remorse. Until we reach perfection I would suggest we all leave the judgments to God & God alone. I cannot BELIEVE the posts in this thread!! Not one of you knows the heart of a man, neither Melody's heart of Keith's. I am saddened that the gossip mills & judgment hammers are grinding & pounding. We all need to look to our own hearts before looking at the sty's in our brothers eyes.

Lucky US that we're sitting here on our cans watching all these wonderful video's of Keith and Melody's life story, the songs, the testimony. Most of this stuff is probably copyrighted and we're watching it for free?!!? Don't forget that Loving God and sharing this love through music and testimony, anecdotes from their lives has always been the way they provided for their family. Of course she'll continue doing what she loves and earning a living by doing so. Be happy for her instead of hating!

I believe that what tormented Keith was the fact that he could not reach all the people he wanted to. He loved the people and was hurt when they refused to turn to the Lord. Melody is doing what is necessary to raise funds to keep the ministry going. His message cut and still cuts to the heart of cold blooded christians. The type of christian who prays, "Lord help this sinner and met his needs." Never realizing that the person offering up the prayer is the person who is supposed to help.

it was sold to Teen Mania Ministries They gave me a road to China when all others had been closed, because of Keith, and his wife listening to God, I was able to fulfill the mission God had set for me. I traveled, and though I did not see any wondrous things or die smuggling bibles, and teaching material. I will not know what my actions there did for others until I am finally home, and Keith played a part in that.

the hard words they spoke, most of them died by the hand of a disgruntled recipient of said ‘word’. If Keith had anger issues he was in good company. Moses, Elijah, John the Baptist, Peter, Paul, Jesus!!! God become angry over the sins of man & his constant disobedience. There is such thing as a righteous anger & it is not only acceptable, it is expected of the true believer. If we see sin in the camp we are to address it, uproot it & throw it out!!!

Hi Michael.. I re-read my post and it is confusing.. Im sorry, I was replying to one person's post who questioned why God would let good people die and relating it to my own dad dying at an early age. Keith is no my dad.. I didn't mean to confuse.. My dad dies in is 40s (Keith in his 30s) but my dad's life did touch many people (but on a local scale and not as huge as Keith Green did) I agree, Keith reached so many for Christ in his short life. What a wonderful ministry that lives on for Christ!

I find it quite sad that so many people here are harping about Melody making a profit from her continued support of Keith's word, inspiration, music and their story. There is still a HUGE interest in Keith Green, he was a complex man who struggled with the way he delivered his message and he prayed often for temperance. Melody continues to share her love for God and thru every means possible she will continue to do so. Of course she profits from the materials, how else could she pay bills?

I realize this comment is 3 yrs old but I felt I had to respond. Why not call him a prophet? Because you weary of hearing it? What is the definition of a prophet? 1.A person who speaks by divine inspiration or as the interpreter through whom the will of a god is expressed. 2.A person gifted with profound moral insight and exceptional powers of expression. 3.The chief spokesperson of a movement or cause. In all these regards the man was indeed a prophet. Most prophets were hated in their day for

What REALLY saddens me today are talented artists that were "Christian " who have completely sold out to the world. I write of Justin Bieber and Katy Perry who said when she wasn't getting anywhere with Christian records that she "sold her soul to the devil" for fame. That's too high a cost for me. I often wonder does Justins mother wish she hadn't put his music on YT? I would rather he was poor and a believer than his situation now. But in his defense I heard he is attending a Bible study. I pray he does come to the Fsther, he and Katy. I thank God for Keith Green, his music and his ministry that continues today!

Dana W. I believe that Keith Green would tell you that he would want to be remembered as a man that loved God, loved God's people, shared his faith about God. The thing to remember is that we are not guaranteed tomorrow.we only have today and what we do with that time is what matters. James 4:14 If our lives reflect the life of Christ in us and through us then no matter how we die we have changed the world we live in. Jesus is our hope, without Him we are nothing.

Did you ever sit with Keith & ask him where his heart was? Did you walk in his shoes? Did you ask him why he had a 160 acre ranch, or why he had a plane? He was a young Christian & though at one time wanting to be famous eschewed it when it finally arrived. As to street evangelism, that is what both of their ministries were built upon. Had they not started in the streets there would have been no Last Days Ministries. Are you on the streets witnessing Mr. Dunn? Judge not lest ye be judged.

I have no idea what you mean when you said, "the're should be a spell check app, on the main app bar atop". Maybe you're using a phone app? If you're just using your PC and are on youtube, whenever you type a misspelled word, it becomes underlined and you right click on the word and choose the correct spelling. I think some people have no idea why the words are underlined in red and don't investigate. Besides, as long as the message comes across, the spelling errors can be forgiven! :) :)

Wow. The interviewers introduced her as Keith's wife, Melody didn't do that. You know, she has every right to reintroduce the materials, songs, messages of the ministry. This is how she and Keith made a living as well as what they lived. Spreading the word is still her life and there's new music, but using the music and testimony of Keith is another way to keep his message alive. Of course she would profit, it costs money to make those copies and compile them and send them out.. your problem??

Tell that to the persecuted church in China & North Korea & Kuwait & the many countless countries around the world where Christians are tortured & killed daily simply for their belief in God. It was his time & God used his death mightily to bring about greater things than even his life brought about. Note: Only one of Jesus' disciples lived a long life & their obedience has yet to be rivaled by today's professing Christians.

This is what you wrote : God puts a hedge of protection around his children, and promises among other things, long life to those who obey His word. This is a way of saying that KG was probably not obeying God's Word, otherwise God would not have permitted him to die. You never answer straight to answers on your posts, because probably you can't answer. A long life, richess or health are not a proof of God's approval on your life as some modern preachers pretend these days.

Not Idol worship what I was trying to say is that he represented God better than most men if I hold him in direct comparison to any one it would be Moses or John the baptist, I revere those men as being apart of God, they were sinners who had a path we could all follow, it was not un-attainable. It is not Idol worship if you do not worship them, I do not the fine line has not been crossed by me because I pray to God, and talk with God daily not to Keith, nor did Keith die for me.

Xander, I am not certain what Bible you are using, but my Bible doesn't have soft prophets who tickle ears & try to make people feel better about themselves in their sin. Keith offered plenty of hope to those who turned their lives over in complete surrender. The only people I recall being uncomfortable at his message to the church were those lukewarm Sunday Christians who led lives of leisure while the world around them died spiritually. I am sorry, but he did point to Jesus in a very real way.

I am also tired of people putting Keith on a pedestal. Even Keith admitted to people in private that he was less than perfect. And people forget that, before he died, he made a series of phone calls to Christians he had treated badly and apologized. As for Keith being a prophet? Real prophets criticize the Church, but then offer redemption and hope. Keith criticized the Church but, as far as I know, never offered hope. That's being a critic, not a prophet.

@GiantColoringBook When I mentioned Keith having control issues, I was just referring to comments in Melody's book, where he called and apologized to people before he died about how he'd been heavy-handed in his ministry. Keith himself mentioned repenting of hypocrisy in a concert. I agree with you comments on not needing fame or perks. I find it suspicious that a guy who was Christian only 8 yrs rose to the top that quickly.

Both Keith and Melody heard the Lord's instructions so clearly, I wouldn't be surprised if Melody was called to do just what she's doing right now, which is fund a ministry God is still using. In the interim, she may have merely been grieving, settling into a new relationship, and raising children.:)
