I think why JJ's reddit is so good (other than it having a lot of members) is that JJ puts a lot more memeable stuff out there for the redditors to make content with. Simon and some other sidemen actually make more content than him, but it is not as easy to clown with or edit due to the nature of JJ being so eccentric, while the others are more calm in that way. Not a diss to simon or the others, but JJ just is a meme content god, and nobody does it quite like him. It is hard to expect people to make original and funny content if they don't have a lot of material, and JJ gives his reddit almost too much material.
