JJ's team probably put him up front precisely to do damage control which is usual PR. It's normal in the entertainment business and the reality of everyone. I hate to purposely bring up Jake Paul but he's the closest example of someone who relies on an expensive team to manage his career, how he handles the public, and expressing his brand. Jake relies on a whole team of PR specialists, publicists, and countless others of that ilk to perpetuate his image and the narratives surrounding them to make the most money which is all it comes down. JJ may be more humble that way since he's British, it's very different there compared to here in the States, but it's all the same game.

That said, even though I like JJ and believe he's a better boxer than Jake Paul, Fournier definitely got knocked out by an accidental elbow and the fight should be a no contest decision. Fournier insisting the elbow was intentional is so absurd and stupid that I wouldn't blame JJ for not rematching him again because Fournier is a veteran boxer and knows better. He's clearly pushing that bogus narrative for another payday with a rematch instead of being honest.

Accidental or intentionally in the moment, perhaps a never to be answered question. However when I read people spouting it's Joe's fault, that's absurd. An experienced boxer has natural movements and reflexes. When you dodge a punch that goes completely by your head, you don't bang your head forwards so hard you can get knocked out. Simply watch how experienced boxers avoid such punches and react and see why hard accidental elbows are pretty rare. It's a completely different movement to hit someone with your elbow, when it happens accidentally during a punch it's not that hard seeing as your power was focussed forwards from your glove.

It's dangerous and someone is going to get seriously hurt soon. Elbows, headclashes etc are all going to happen because these guys don't have the skills and experience to compose themselves in the ring when the adrenaline gets going. Needs to be a no-contest, not a DQ, it was an unintentional elbow. Big fan of KSI but I can’t deny that a mistake was made by him which was a result of Joe falling into the elbow. Shit happens, I feel Ksi would’ve dominated the match either way but he needs to prove to everyone that he can do it again without the accidental elbow.
