Since when does an AD hold a press conference anyway? Coaches are required to wiat 10 minutes to cool off before a press conference, ADs shouldn't be allowed on the stand. It's not their night.

Flipping off the refs wasn’t super classy by the players afterwards. Fan throwing a water bottle and knocking out BYU cheerleader coach as well. This was a top down thing.

Exactly. Players were fine. Utah’s administration and coaches have been disrespectful of BYU for over a decade. It’s what gives the fans permission to act like fools. Whit is mostly pissed that BYU finally got in the cool kids club after trolling them for years. Maybe now he at least knows who is rival is, even if he can’t say anything nice about them.

@@RohoSombrero I think Whitt and the players don’t like being in the Big XII with us but understand things could have turned out much, much worse. No one else wanted them except us. We wanted the rivalry back and it was join us or go back to being a G5 team. Just another momentous job in our awesome rivalry!

My understanding is that officiating crew white hat and most of the others came to the big 12 from the pac 12. Whittinghams just silly too. Comes out and says none of it is on the players… your offense bageled the second half and had 10 total yards on its last 3 possessions. But not on the players.

The Utes had 50 yards of offense in the second half. BYU strangled the Utes in the half. The only person who could get open was the tight end. The wide outs got zero separation the entire game. The wide outs only caught three passes the entire game.

@@birwinz And he wants to ignore the phantom facemask call against BYU in the first half that resulted in a touchdown at the end of that drive. If you don't want the game to be decided on a penalty, do one of two things: 1) don't let it be that close in the end, and 2) don't commit a penalty on important plays.

That’s how Utah plays defense! You can’t complain when you get called for it. Retzlaff was looking that way, and if the DB didn’t grab his inside pad, the WR breaks off up or out and is wide open.

@@aleniafuvaiC’mon man! Even the commentators acknowledged it was a hold. Play was designed as a quick throw to THAT receiver. The quick hold prevented the throw resulting in the sack. THEN the D didn’t stop a multiple big plays drive and the kicker made the kick. GAME OVER 😂

Looking at how the AD and HC acted post game, I can understand why the Utes are in free fall. Zero class. No accountability. The AD must be fined, and a firing would not be out of line. If I was the commish, I would invite Utah to return to the Pac12. Having the HC throwing furniture in the press conference is also not acceptable. A suspension would be appropriate.

I want nothing more than to see whitt go out a loser. This year…next. It doesn’t matter. Personally my biggest gripe with Sitake is that he has so much respect for someone who disrespects BYU as much as whitt does. The difference between the 2 coaches, the 2 cultures, and attitudes of the 2 programs are a direct reflection of the leadership. I’m glad that those differences are finally showing on the football field. I mean look no further than the post game. Sitake takes off his hat out of respect and hugs Kyle saying “I love you” and Kyle more or less ignores it to chew out the refs. Kyle gets up there for his presser and says “well s%*t” under his breath. For Sitake’s presser he quotes Helaman. Those are your leaders. And it’s been that way for years.

Coach Whitt said they played "lights out". Really? Perhaps in the first half, but not in the second half. When you generate 50 yds of offense in the second half, you will likely lose. Utah's D kept it closer than it should have been in the second half. Does playing "lights out" lead to zero point in 30 min?

BYU did well to win this game but BYU is not playing well right now. These are major areas i would like to see BYU improve on: 1. Time Management - terrible and has been suspect all year having to use their timeouts because of substitutions seemingly getting on the field late or not knowing what they are supposed to do, 2. No tight end focus. BYU recruits all these 4 star tight ends and then doesnt feature them. Huge missed opty, 3. Seemingly no swing pass plays or bubble screens. Dont get it. 4. Over the middle screen pass play has not worked all year. Why do we keep running it? Honestly. I cant understand what Roderik is doing.

I understand that you can say some crazy things in the heat of the moment. But the Utes AD really should’ve thought through what he was saying before he said it. Even though he felt like they were robbed, doesn’t take away for the fact that they didn’t score for 3/4. And it doesn’t take away from what the BYU players did. One flag does not take away from what all the things BYU accomplished in the game

Utah really can’t argue penalties when they were gifted that facemask penalty instead of a 10-yard sack for their first TD drive, plus the SOFT roughing the passer on the next play. If anything, the refs are the only reason Utah had a chance.

That corner caught holding was a knucklehead. The pressure on Retzlaff up that point was unstoppable. You can’t give the ref the opening to make that call. Not to mention BYU got screwed over too in the second quarter.. it balanced out as far as officiating went. Throwing things on the field after is classless and disgusting. All you had to do was post 3 points in the second half and it was over. All around terrible look for Utah. Embarrassing even.

I really think the culture of the Utah program has deteriated the last couple years. This behavior from Kyle and Mark is not surprising to Cougar fans. For the last year or so, we've heard comments from both head coach and AD that are petty and entitled. It's one aspect of the team culture and has contributed to the losses this year.

Ignore the bad calls that went their way and helped them. Ignore a shutout in the second half. Ignore the fact that the call was correct if inopportune. Terrible, terrible sportsmanship. Terrible look for the University.

Only in your delusional mind. Don’t hold, score once in the second half, stop a 60 yard drive after the hold where byu had no timeouts and back up lineman playing. Utah fans are acting like clowns. The reality is has had their backside handed to them in the Big12 after running their mouths all offseason. 1-5. Classless AD. BYU had one favorable call the entire game and upon review it’s a hold. Utah had a favorable call on the imaginary facemask that never happened.
