So normally people don't change overnight outside of specific event like a death in the family, postpartum, major life cha ge etc. I personally believe you should be able to communicate honestly with your partner if you see that they are starting to change in a negative way. For example, if they are becoming lazy, you should be able to let them know so that they can make changes in order to not be lazy. This is why choosing the right partner is important. You should start off with a relationship that has open and honest communication. Hope that makes sense.
