Super excellent Video coverage. Happy to note that KSRTC is the FIRST State to to introduce VOLVO 9600 Series. The Interiors of this Bus is top class excellent. I am really surprised that even in this Bus some passengers are taking away the Bedsheets to their homes which has been given to them only for travel purpose. The Four reasons you gave as to why TN Govt is not in favour of buying Volvo Buses is Very Valuable information. The crew of this Bus are very courteous. Thanks for the candid assesment of setc vs ksrtc. You missed an important point: ksrtc is an efficiently administered RTC unlike TNSTC/SETC. They make profits which is why they are able continuously bring in new services and also give private travels a run for their money. TNSTC had an amazing fleet of buses in the 80s and 90s and head and shoulders above all other southern RTCs at that time. Thiruvalluvar bus service was superb so were other district RTCs. Like many, i also yearn for TNSTC/SETC to bounce back 🙏

Karnataka and kerala are tourist dependent states so they prefer high end buses to attract passengers when they enter other states, wheres TN doesn't care much about tourism and also the points u said also fits, this logic fits for other states as well.

Tamil Nadu's state transport undertakings, they are companies, has a peculiar funding model than other states. AFAIK it's something like it competes with the Indian Railways in most routes which other state STU's do not do and as a result it doesn't get funds from the Center through the Railways. This is the case since the TN-STU's were formed and they are left to fund their own purchases. Simply speaking the luxury buses run by other STU's depends on how many trains run in that route and passenger demand for those trains. If you see the KSRTC routes where they run these Volvos/Scania it's always where the rail user limits are very high like Bengaluru-Chennai or where the number of trains is not adequate due to low infra like Bengaluru - Mangaluru/Hyderabad/Pune/Mumbai/Kerala etc. and so they gain where the railways cannot tap that potential and it provides financial support to STU's for catering to the segments which cannot be serviced by Railways. For instance the Chennai-Bengaluru rail sector has more AC berths/seats and after every new AC train introduced KSRTC has nearly zeroed it's schedule around the time such trains depart.

Regarding why TN & KL don't get such high quality buses..... TN & KL are much more reliant on rail travel. Karnataka because of its geography doesn't have as good rail connections within the state as KL & TN. So KA buses had to be really good to compensate for the lack of trains
