Has KSU been working on tissue culture of pawpaw? If not I would put it on the top of the list! Suckers come true to form and the plant becomes immortal instead of a short lived grafted tree!

They kinda glossed over the question about keeping them in regular gardens. The big guy just spoke about what they do on the orchard which was not what was asked

They do form thickets and have root suckers. If you keep them from spreading, you have a lovely shade tree but you can't let it go wild in residential areas without a plan

@@BeargrassThunder Thank you. Since writing my comment a month ago I have now purchased 3 varities to grow in my London, UK garden . The varities I bought were KSU Atwood, and 2 'Peterson PawPaws' varities, 'Mango' and 'Wabash'.

@@MoebiusUK All good varieties. Just to be precise, Mango is not one of Neil Peterson's pawpaws. It's more of an old standard from Georgia. Check out this as a resource. Pretty good list. www.scion-exchange.com/trade/item_list/Pawpaw/

@@Qingeaton I wish their list included the flavor and texture. I hear some can be more custardy in texture or taste more tropical/papaya-ish than others.

@@jeremybyington I have only personally eaten Mango, out of the 3 you listed. It tends to rank highly with people that like pawpaw flavors, it's a happy medium between very strong ones like PA. Golden and very mild ones like Shenandoah. The single best pawpaw I ever had was a Susquehanna, but the tree itself is a poor bearer. The main thing about pawpaws to me is how much "after taste" they have. Something about it has kind of a "wang", like wild meat does when you were raised on store bought. We have about 100 pawpaw trees on our farm. They do vary quite a bit.
