Friends and colleagues paid tribute to KTLA 5 Entertainment Anchor Sam Rubin, who died suddenly on Friday at age 64. May 10, 2024.

I've been living in Las Vegas since October 2016 and never lost touch watching KTLA and especially Sam Rubin. He was another L.A. news legend we will miss now.

I remember waking up before school and my parents watching Sam on the news. I didn't like the news growing up but I never wanted to miss sam. He is part of the family and want to thank him for all the memories and laughs he brought to me and my family.

Sam Rubin was / is such a nostalgic part of life. The memories of watching KTLA with friends and family, that friendly familiar face, voice and energy just being such a nice and normal part of your life, was such a lovely thing. Thank you Sam, for the memories and bringing people together to create such good memories. Hope that all of his friends and family are okay. Love you all at KTLA 💜💜

I can't believe it. Los Angeles entertainment news will never be the same :( I've watched him the entire 30 years from the start. A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame needs to be installedin his honor, immediately and unequivocally! God rest his precious soul♥️

Sam Rubin was the anchor of channel 5 KTLA news. He was an icon and will be missed. Thank you for all of the many years of hard work telling stories of different subjects. You were the best Sam. Reminds me of when Tim Russert died suddenly, also from a heart attack. On the air one minute, passed suddenly the next. Condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.💔

Oh Sam you will be missed so much!! I was transferred out here about 20 years ago, did not know a soul and found it hard to make friends, it was lonely However once I discovered Sam in the morning he always put a smile on my face, and made it much easier to face the day. He was so personable, and I looked forward to seeing him in the morning. I feel I have lost a close friend. RIP dear friend

Had to move to Colorado 2 years ago and the main loss for me was missing Sam Rubin and KTLA . He is going to be so hard to replace 😢 rip Sam, loved you so much 😢

I’m 66 and remember Sam from day one on KTLA! I’ve been in Las Vegas for the past 18 years and I find this a shock and I feel for his family and colleagues 🙏 life is short people, so live it too the fullest !!!

Growing up watching ktla early mornings with Sam. Mom watched before she had to go to work. He was fun and entertaining and surely has a place in our family heart. Condolences to all of Sam's Family and Friends and everyone whose heart he touched, rest well.

I liked Sam Rubin. He was always a kick and had such a happy outgoing way. To be honest, I always thought Sam was gay. Not that it makes any difference. He will certainly be greatly missed. KTLA will not be the same. My condolences to his private and professional family.

I loved Sam AND KTLA in the morning. I remember when he first started he went live when he bought his first home. He was so nervous and wasn't sure about the mortgage :))))) he was wonderful.

I watched him every morning before work. Moved to Las Vegas in 2003 but I have never forgotten watching Sam. This is heart breaking. He seemed to be a very genuine, easy going soul. I'm praying for his family and his KTLA co-workers. May they all find peace, soon.

I watched Sam and all of KTLA every morning. My ex and I “won” tickets to see the premier of Dolores Claiborne. While there we met him and he was the nicest guy. Very down to earth. He will be sorely missed.

I grew up watching Sam in southern CA and then I moved to Australia and he would come on the screen here on the Today show and then would make me feel like I was home again 😢❤ cured my homesickness ❤

I moved away from so cal years ago but when I visited, I would turn on the news in the morning and was always happy to see Sam (and Mark!) still doing it. I know the big network news is always in NY but Sam was LA's guy! Feels like an old neighbor or teacher died, just makes your heart a little sad. My parents watched KTLA every day when I was growing up.
