Rottweiler video goes up next Thursday. Easy to get to the filter on my other KTM, just pop off the plastic side cover...this one, not so much.

17k on original air filter? 😮 Whats the reccomend service interval? I just bought a 2015 with 12k miles. Opened the air box to reveal the original filter as well. Almost cried. Been worried it may have cause premature engine wear. 😢 My new filter is a OEM KTM filter but the filter pleates run vertical. Not horizontal like the one installed. Thoughts? Lastly. Do you reccomend running some sort of ore filter or rain sock on the intake tubes? I'm reading guys are using cut off women's nylons and a rubber band. I was thinking of buying a rain sock for a harley and cutting it to fit and using a rubber band. Or.. Perhaps buying a sheet of course grade UNI filter and stuffing it in front of the vent. Thoughts on that? Thanks!

So the stock air filter can go as long as the valve check at roughly 18,000 miles?
@2WR2 ай бұрын
That’s the official service interval.

That would be awesome , I have tore into my bike and I think I have figured it out , a lot more plastic had to come off than I thaught lol , anyways I had one question, I just installed the rottweiler stage 3 kit in my 1190r , in the instructions they say you dont need the snorkels anymore , my thaught was they still fit , so why would you not put them on and get a steady flow cool air getting rammed in there when your on the hiway? Just my thaughts anyways I was wondering you out yours back in , I know for my bike it says you can shelf them
@2WR5 жыл бұрын
Because now you have an open airbox so no need for the snorkels. The snorkels on the factory airbox are the only inlets but with the Rottweiler set up it can intake air from all angles to the snorkels would only restrict airflow.

Do you know how to fix a air temp failure error?
@2WR2 ай бұрын
Have u checked to make sure the sensor isn’t broken?
@shurells2 ай бұрын
@2WR I try to checked but I don’t really know where to find it on the bike. And I still get the same message on my screen. I also checked my oil and coolant.

I have been running the KTM pre filters, noticed when cleaning, it feels like there is a steel mesh screen in there, that moves ?? Is this removable? Can I clean this too? Thanks! Hey, great vids, keep it up

Ridiculous. No way I'm taking a tank off and panels and crash bars just to check/replace the air filter. And it's no bigger than my Honda CT90 air filter?! KTM, you really, really suk at some things. . . .
@michaelrjacobs2 жыл бұрын
Why on earth did they make you remove the tank and crashbar to exchange the filter... It's an adventure bike, utterly rediculous.
@2WR2 жыл бұрын
Crash bars can technically stay on for this specific job (need to come off for checking/adjusting valves). While it seems like a lot, I can have it down to the airbox in under 15 min, of course I can have my 890 down to the airbox in 15 seconds so…
@michaelrjacobs2 жыл бұрын
@@2WR still... Doing it on the road during a stopover is quite a task. You have put the idea of the rottweiler kit in my head though ;)
@2WR2 жыл бұрын
True (though I've had the tank off on road trip before and NBD), but you've got (depending on riding conditions) 9300 miles before air filters with the stock setup. I've checked the Rotty (with pre-filter) after far more than that and the actual filer is still oiled and clean as can be.
