In this video I take my KTM 150 XC-W TPI 2020 on some local single track trails and hill climbs.
I'm no pro rider, but this bike has been so much fun to ride from taking it into the woods, trails, or hill climbs. It has taught me a lot about some good basic riding mechanics such as clutch control and modulation and gear selection. As you can see in this video, I have plenty more learning to do but I'm having a blast while doing it!
I hope you enjoy the video, and if you want to see more content like this then please like and subscribe!

The eagles thought you might end up being trail kill at the top of that hill!! Fun watching your attempts. I couldn’t make it I know that. Riding ST at 60 takes a lot of effort but man it’s so worth it.

I agree, riding this bike side by side to a 300 there is no comparison when it comes to low end torque. However, there's no denying this 150 is a fun and capable machine :)

Hey I wanted to ask how the ktm 150 XC-w is treating you because I really thinking about get one and I hurt a lot of people say that the ktm 150 and do most the stuff that a ktm 250 can do it just take more work the bike makes you work harder for it then a 250
@206bGoss

Hey Boo_Izzy, I am absolutely loving my 150. I chose this bike because I wanted to improve my skills (clutch control, gear selection etc.) and I have zero regrets. Every time I have failed a line it's been because I lack the skill, not because the bike can't do it. However, a 250 or 300 will have more grunt and will be more forgiving to rider mistakes.

This video does the bike no justice. I was quite new to the 150. 2nd gear pinned from the bottom would rip up this.

How’d you get on with the swap? I’m the other way round to you. Newb with a husky 150 considering a 350. I’ve hit a learning plateau with my 150. Love it but you need to be a good rider to ride the 150. I’m not. I’m fine with slow crawl hills that you can paddle up. I’m fine with hills that have a decent base that you can ride up gently. I’m stuffed with woodland steep boggy hills that are too steep to paddle up, ones with ruts at the bottom that need the bike on the pipe. With the 150 you have to have a lot of speed and/pr be on the pipe. The bike wants to constantly travel into the band. It all gets a bit crazy for me as I don’t really want to go up steep hills on the pipe as I’m learning and I spend a lot of time on the floor. I tried a 350F and couldn’t believe how different it was. So smooth and shit tonnes of torque useable low down. Linear throttle too which was ace for hills. My 150 is very snappy. Fun on flatter stuff, not so much for a newb with hills 😂

I’m thinking of using it as a dual-sport, more offroad than on, adding soft luggage like Giant Loop Coyote to light camp, to ride the TAT & BDRs. Right now I have a WR250r, but think I would like the same or more power with 100 less pounds. Does the subframe lend itself to adding soft luggage? Is there a larger gas tank available? Does it have robust enough electrics to handle more led lights and usb accessories? Do you think it would hold up on longer trips like that? I appreciate your thoughts, it’s hard to find info on the 2020 & 2021s. Thanks, Drew
@206bGoss
@206bGoss 3 жыл бұрын
Hey drmayerr. I have zero dual-sport experience so I am probably not a great resource for you, but this may help. I can't imagine riding this 150 on a highway. In 6th gear totally pinned on concrete I bet it would cap out at 63 to 65mph.

Ya gotta stop stabbing the throttle on that thing, its annoying. If youre gonna continue climbing hills, get in the freakin pipe and commit to the top. Not trying to be critical, but i know what that bike will do and you aint there yet. Maybe your a new rider and perhaps this is your first bike idk. At least youre not complaining like so many others so thats good.

Thanks for watching the video and commenting. This video is the first time I've done hill climbs on this bike, and it is also my first 2 stroke. The bike I rode previously was a TTR-125, so you can imagine how different they are. After reading some previous comments that were similar and reviewing my footage I've been pinning it more on hill climbs and have had better success. It's a learning process!

@@lmaoluc6242 yeah, I just ride around it. I adjusted my PV out one full turn. Wasn’t any easier to ride around the burble. One full turn in from stock and it’s way easier to avoid. From about 37mph on up I can BARELY accelerate and keep it smooth. It’s still frustrating on a 9k brand new bike.

Only time I cringed at the throttle blipping was when you were going up the hills. Other than that whatever. Keep it in the power band the whole time up hill, those small bores need to be in the power to go up hills. Place looks pretty sweet to ride.
