Awesome trip, and how important it is to stop and chat with the land owners etc so they get a positive experience from us. Great job.

Thanks! A fun weekend, we have close to 3000Km of gravel and forest trails scouted only in this area. Really nice and could be sorted out as green to black trails, which is nice if we need to separate riding teams. It was a while ago i took a turn in this direction from home. No black trails this time though, thought we should do some of them. Cheers and take care!

You will love that 690! It is a lot of bang in this package. Refined thru years and now even electronivmc goodies. You will love the quick shifter and probably the traction control as well. I have a series of videos from 2016 where I took my 690 to Norway. Loved that trip and the bike even did well as tourer.

Passing that tractor it could get quite tricky and you could easily overbalance and it would be very difficult to pick up a 200kg bike by yourself. Smart move to have someone there to assist and it reinforces the point that when solo riding you need to be extra careful. What a lovely forest trail.
@Braapncamp4 жыл бұрын
Yes it was steeper and more difficult terrain than video shows beside the tractor. Good thing is that the tractor had winch if needed. I still have gone round the tractor if riding alone. 😁👍 But it is un nessecary to take risks when we are a team.

That farmer who was logging was really cool, when he was ready he joined us at the coffee stop and had a chat. He was also curious how we could find these forest roads (his property), but was fine with it. His forester geer was Stihl, a little wierd in Husqvarna land ;P
@MrEtnorb4 жыл бұрын
Mattias Eriksson here in Australia it is annoying that when following an established dirt road or track ie marked on all mapping programs, you sometimes come across a sign indicating that it is private property. I think that the property owners are sick of riders using these tracks and illegally place these signs. My policy is not to disregard these signs as it gives riders a bad reputation.
@Braapncamp4 жыл бұрын
We could easily see if the gravel road is private financed or not, by the destination signs coloration. On private financed roads the landowner have the right to prohibit motorized trafic, but then they must have a sign. It's a proper advise to obey those signs, for all of us sake. Those exist but are rare over here. But to ride irresponsible on private open roads quickly change the opportunity for the advriding community. I have see that TET (Tran European Trail) tracks are overloaded with adv bikes in the summer. It's a great idea but roads that where open get bars and signs. Better idea is to alternate the route often, to not overload it.

Thanks to you aswell for sharing this lovely vlogs. One thing a noticed was that the tires doesent seem optimal for offroad use when it gets very slippery but perhaps its not intended for that though it´s more like an allroad tire for both gravel and tarmac.... Keep it on and drive safe...

I switched to Michelin Anakee Wild and they are a lot more stable in muddy conditions. Karoo are great on hard packed stuff but honestly the Anakee wilds are not much worse on tarmac and a lot better off-road. Still not perfect, in deep mud they clog up quickly if you don't keep the speed up. Luckily the 790 handles so well and stays straight and upright so you can 'swim' it through deep puddles. The karoo front slipped to the sides a lot more and I never felt like I had it completely under control.

Will be so nice to change. I'm a cheap bastard and tend to run on stock tires until i get what i want, have been waiting for the RallZ since year shift. I couldn't convince myself to change to something "some what" better until i got these Rallz. One Guy in the team was riding in Deserts with 130 width, the 750km's chew rubber from stock 19mm thread depth down to 9mm. This 790 is a true rubber chew'er... My Karoo' rear is totally done and actually was before the trip. One of the guys just got the bike before the trip, but he has narrow rims in the garage and will run enduro tires with mousse, that will be interesting!
@Virtuos4 жыл бұрын
@@Braapncamp Yes, I believe that the 790 is a bit too heavy for the Deserts and that the RallZ will be a better choice. Now go fit them and then go ripping :) And don't forget to record it! :P

Damnit, I had almost decided 100% that I was going to get the 1290SAR, then I started watching videos of the 790AdvR. Now I'm leaning towards the 790 being a better match for me. I mostly do the kind of gravel roads or forest path driving you often show in your videos, with the occasional touring trip. My last bike was a BMW F650 Dakar, and I really liked the agility and low center of gravity that bike had, a lot like the 790. I realize the 790 has more than enough power for the kind of routes I take, but the 160hp of the 1290 is quite tempting. Have you tried the 1290 on forest paths and more technical stuff than gravel roads?
@Braapncamp4 жыл бұрын
😂😂🔥 Hi, no I have never tested the 1290. For my riding the 1290 is over kill. But I can imagine that it is plenty fun on most roads.

😜 I once heard somebody comment that on group rides, there is always a time where inexplicably all the riders get the same memo and start boogeying real hard, and then just as suddenly it stops, so things gets a little “racy”. You might want to give those moments an “R” rating as well. Of course you may want to warn people about coffee breaks just in case the kids are watching. So let’s see, if a video contains the obligatory quick shot of a rider facing away on the side of the trail to take a take a pee, of course a “P” rating might be warranted. 🤦♂️. I need to stop, please cut me off.

All of us except one could easily have popped it over the log, but when first guy park the bike just after it, it stacked up bikes and got risky 😂. I have jumped over that type of logs before with both 690 and 790. Anyone can do it. The guy before me need to practice some more. However its fun to practice at those logs. If i find one closer to home i will see what we can do. Cheers my friend!

@progammler4 жыл бұрын
I thought about it so many times and I always end up asking myself "am I alone and how far am I from home". sure logs have some give and you have to hit them quite hard to break something but the stock engine guard on the 790 is very thin and there is no frame around it for protection, the engine is part of the frame and that makes it so much more vulnerable...
