true but at that moment i would have pulled the clutch then done that providing the kill switch was dysfunctional - you must remember that wheel is spinning incredibly fast getting to the rear brake without it hitting the ground and being uncontrollable would be pretty difficult in that situation

The other way to stop is by pulling the plug lead off,and even if there was a kill switch sometimes the motor has got so hot that it is starting to pre ignite by itself so the only way to stop it before it seizes is to turn the choke on and try to flood the bike or remove the carby.

wouldn't pulling in the clutch so you can get back on it, shifting into 5th (or 6th) gear and releasing the clutch be enough to stall it out? what did he end up doing? turning the gas off? it would probably still run for long enough to damage the engine using that method i would think.

Pull the sparkcap or sparkplug wire, or push the rearbrake as hard as possible and let the clutch pop

that's why you quickly pull in the clutch, stand the bike up and gear it up to fifth or sixth gear, sit on it and pop the clutch. it will just bog out in 5th or 6th gear. i've done it

Ganz einfach: kupplung ziehen, 3ter gang (oder höher) rein, mit voller kraft auf die hinterbremse und kupplung auslassen. Aber eine frage hab ich: ein 300er 2takter dreht ja nicht so hoch, also von daher müsst ihm das dauervollgas eigentlich nicht viel tun, oder?

phil tripe u know the amps is so low so its not dangerous vith 50000 volt, its the combination of high volt and high amps that is dangerous. Not all the time but the spark plug cap is usually made in rubber so you can pull it of in this situation without feling anything ;)

If the clutch lever (sorry for my bad english) is broken, then you can't use that, i have a 50cc Derbi Senda Extreme (It's a moped ok) and one time its throttle got stuck and i couldn't stall it by shifting into 5th gear WITHOUT the clutch at 14 000rpm, and then the transmission blew up and somehow i managed to turn the engine off by removing the spark plug completely and then it stalled after 4 seconds.

the kill switch works no matter what the engine rpm bcoz it stops ignition so there is nothing to explode in the combustion chamber, therefore the crankshaft eventually stops. you will have to hold the button in for about 6 seconds at this engine speed though lol coz if you let it go when the engine is still operating and the throttle is wide open it will fire itself back up again

if there is hot spots on the cylinder head you may as well walk away because it goes into a mode called "dieseling" or "running away" only thing to really do is shut fuel off but i think in this case the throttle cable got snagged :/ this really sucks

By that point, I'm pretty sure it would stop because it is ceased. A 2 stroke engine isn't designed to run off heat... It would have to be pretty dang hot to do that. I think the piston and cylinder wall would melt first.

Same thing happened to me and I was in neutral gear. Kill switch didn't work so I removed spark plug and it was still reving. It stopped when I turned off fuel

it would take a decent bit of fail to cause that to happen but if that did happen and all else fails pull the fuel line and let the carb run dry (assuming it has a carb).

Seriously guys, stop commenting if you have never ridden a bike like this before. If the damn thing is revving out, it is bloody revving out, you can't stop it by just applying the rear break and stalling it, and even with the thinnest oils you can buy, at high revs they will still try and drag you along with the clutch in. The only hope is the kill switch, but if the bike is revving at 110%, then there is the chance it is pre-igniting anyway!!

hey john cumming if you were to pull in the clutch the motor would have nothing to push against therefore the motor would blow even quicker... and partybridge its not always simple to pull the sparkplug lead when the bike is jumping around at full bore
