Amazing how there is literally no warning in this entire sequence of what one would think is a major change to their television programming. If Gray wants to better compete in KELOland, they should at least have the common courtesy of letting people know what's going on. That said, this is a nonetheless historic and interesting sign-off…although considering how fewer and fewer those are becoming, any sign-off these days would be a relatively novel sight to see. Great upload.

It won't be long before Gray will merge KTTW Fox with their other two stations they already own, KSFY and KDLT. Once that happens, the sign offs will likely go away for good with infomercials all night. Gray was able to use the one and only FCC waiver to get around ownership limits. Normally one broadcaster can't own two of the four top stations in any market, but Gray successfully argued that they needed to merge KSFY with KDLT to better compete with KELOLand. Now they are getting more consolidated with the addition of KTTW. Intriguing, yet sad at the same time.

Does KTTW/KTTM sign off every night, given this was recorded on a Thursday night?

Gray v. Nexstar for control of the country's TV stations. Who will win?

I wish Gray/KSFY/KDLT or Independent Communications would just come out and say what’s happening and what they’re planning lol. Even right now Fox 7 is still broadcasting commercials for ThisTV, which we’re pretty sure is owned by two different companies now.

I don't know if ThisTV will be around for long in Sioux Falls. Midco (my cable company) is now listing KTTW's program data as "Channel No Longer Broadcasting" even though as I type, ThisTV programming is still on. More concerning is that the Sioux Falls ZIP Code no longer lists an affiliate on the ThisTV website. I'm keeping my eye on the channel around midnight, and if it goes off the air for good, I will have recorded footage of it even if it's just a drop to color bars or black screen.

Tribune dropped THISTV from most of its stations right before Nexstar took over. I’m surprised there are still THIS TV affiliates around

I think it really sucks to have the one company make the local news which seems to have a certain view point. At least I had a choice between the two before this "merger". I'm thankful KTTW is still Broadcasting This TV.

This station has gone off the air for good now?

Not really. The non-license (programming, Fox 7 branding, studio space) were acquired by Gray TV. KTTW/KTTM themselves are still on the air, but since they don't have Fox programs now, they now only run the digital TV network called "ThisTV", which airs old movies and drama shows.

No Reina Ozbay singing the National Anthem at sign off? Assuming Gray acquired the non license assets, I would think they would broadcast the anthem! Her Voice... :O
