Filipino Reactor. Keeping it real and natural.
I am Nephi Acaling. I am native to Bacolod City but currently living outside the Philippines due to job assignment. I’ve lived in different countries like Singapore, Japan and United States due to job assignments. I was in the US when I started this channel thus the confusion to some where I am truly based.
At a time, I was a band vocalist performing every Friday and Saturday night at a local bar chain but recently decided to quit from my band to focus on my KZbin Channel and my full-time job as an engineer.
I was a member of the Filipino Voice Symphony where I was taught by professional chorale singers (e.g. former soprano from UP Madrigal Singers). Our choral group actually bagged the Gold Medal in the International A cappella Championships held in Singapore in 2011.
I was the Glee Club president and was a trainer for various singing competitions when I was in the university - all these were humbling experiences for me.
WHAT IS THE GOAL?
My mission is to promote music among different regions and try to make people from different countries relate to each other through music and singing. I have always believed that even small gestures in understanding similarities and differences towards others may actually lead to greater awareness about countries and their people.
In this modern world full of things that divide humanity, it is but perfect to put efforts in re-uniting and building bridges among all of us.
I have come to a point of trying to find a greater purpose in life, something beyond just being happy for a moment. Happiness in life is more meaningful if we choose to be useful, be honorable, be compassionate, and make a difference.

The amount of effort that Ernie Zakri put in to this performance:- 1. Changed the music arrangement to a more jazzy style 2. Changed the vocal arrangement 3. Added in the choir 4. Added in the harmonization 5. Added in the horns i.e. saxophones She elevated the song and turned it into her best and grandest ART, specially for this AJL stage. I wonder who was actually the Head jury that night. Was it Ajai or Shafinaz. Are the jury having problems with Ernie that they failed to see that this was the only performer who deserved the best vocal that night?

And guess what in port mortem interview after ajl34 among all the judges, ajai keep repeating about hafiz win Vocal Award because of feelings and all emotional stuff. I like, wth? This is for vocal awards, not the best performance awards. During Azmeer as a head jury, he had explained about how the technical and difficulty influence the singer to be picked as best vocal awards. The ones which show more technical skills and higher difficulty value will have higher chance to win vocal awards. And finally, the singer who have crack voice (terkucil) win the vocal awards. Joke of the year😂

I may say, even tho she didn't won anything that night, but I'm sure she's glad and relieved she did her very best.. She's the true winner of herself..nothing more matters. I am one of the choir singing tenor parts 6:33 during the epic performance. Its an honour to be parts of something so big and powerful. Ernie’s vibe was so strong during the performance, i had goosebumps singing throughout the performance! so damn good! I truly believed she deserved the Best Vocal awards but unfortunately she got robbed! even the judges cant give a concrete reason why Ernie didn’t win best vocal. nonetheless this performance is in another level, she needs to aim the international market. Indonesians music scene are more mature towards music taste and i hope she will be recognised there.

I’m glad you mentioned ‘hello Christina Aguilera’ cause that’s what she did, chanelling xtina’s performance of beautiful at grammy 2004 and xtina’s james brown tribute at grammy 2007 of it’s a man’s world. Only an xtina fan would know that. The man suit she wore that night, the hand gesture when she hit the high notes, the choir, she brought us all to church that night! She’s a vocal teacher after all! ernie is supposed to be the AJL34 champion. I am very empty for him. didn't get a place at all. from sweden i watched. Alhamdulillah AJL35 ernie won the best vocal award. the jury made a big mistake last year. from sweden with prayers for the happiness of syamel and zikri. May your sustenance increase. Ameen

I was rooting for her to be the grand winner. This song is so sentimental to me, with Ernie's performance as an added factor. Got out from an abusive relationship back in October. Everytime I listen to this song I'd be very motivates and grateful that I made it out alive. 🙏💕
