What you imply may or may not be true with almost equal odds. Because as a sufferer of paranormal incidents for more than 15 years which only for the last 2 years has been alleviated a lot just on the back of nothing but religious therapy and practices when nothing else worked including medical treatments,i can easily see why people may hesitate to tell their location and other things. That doesn't mean its always the case. Some may be really fabricating their stories. Ok coming back to why people may choose to hide their location and other details let me cite my example. If i ever send my story to be broadcast here, many of my acquaintances at various levels will easily be able to identify that i am the person because my incidents are a well known thing to many persons around me.. As because many of them were and are unbelievers of these things, they will keep discussing among themselves that how horribly wrong i am. Some will even phone me or my parents or some of my relatives. And if i give location additionally, then even those who aren't my acquaintances will try to locate who this guy may be and exactly where i live just out of morbid curiosity and nothing else. Though none of this will harm me personally but these are what i simply don't want to go through. Also in some cases other people may get implicated in this scenario. While other people who are wrongdoers getting implicated shouldn't bother me,still i won't want that too. There are few other causes. But what i want to mean is that people having a perfectly true and genuine story may choose to hide their details and details others people implied. But on the other hand people may also fabricate these, plagiarize others stories which are either themselves true or fabricated. People after few years will even be using AI in this maybe. So complex scenario. The bad effect of all these are that genuine stories may seem spurious or somehow not adding up.
