From the things I've read, this is the sequel to the song 'Lonely Rolling Star'. Lonely Rolling Star was about a lover singing about how her lover is always out in the world 'rolling around', and how despite being separated from him every now and then, she would always wait for him. This song however, is about how their relationship doesn't work out - he is the 'rolling star', and in this sense, she lets him go free, despite all the pain it brings her. She laments their separation, but is also glad that they'd met - she will never forget him.
