how do you protect the groin, it looks pretty exposed in that position with the left arm, ofcourse - unless you keep control of it, but it could prove difficult at all times ?

Normally you control l the groin-near arm.

Good question. As Al Lex replied (thanks!) you would seek to control the near arm usually, but keep in mind you're not up there doing nothing, and both of their arms will likely be employed in defending themselves from you, or in trying to move you off of them so they can breathe!

How do those uniforms hold up when you roll?

Well, it is a karate gi, so it's not as durable as a judo or bjj gi, but I generally get a couple years out of one before I need to retire it. That being said, as a karate practitioner, I wouldn't be putting the regular stress and strain on a gi that a full time grappler would.
